Beware, this is a dummy light, will not work for all Jeep YJ models… And that may be same for other vehicles. If you have a gauge not a light, this is wrong.
Unit seems fine. Usually I am not the type to write bad reviews based on simple issues, however I feel they fail to make it clear its for dummy light not a gauge sending unit.
Also, my model is last year of yjs… Said it fit … I question if it ever would if not correct for mine, the most modern YJ.
Don’t trust what you read. Check your dash.

Amazon said this would fit my 93 Grand Cherokee. It did not. Package said it was for a WJ with a dummy, my 93 ZJ is just a gauge with no light. The part threaded in and the connector plugged in, but not operational. I ordered the correct part from a 4×4 supplier for 1/3 of the price and it works.

There are two sending units listed here. The white version is for Jeeps with an actual gauge and the black version is if you have a temperature light.
That being said, the white version does indeed put out 115 Ohms at 215 degrees, which is what the factory spec is. This means it does properly operate the Omix-Ada temperature gauge for 92-95 YJ, which is made by AVS, the original OEM supplier.
After 2 months of sending back parts and waiting for replacements, I finally have a working temperature gauge in my 92 YJ with the 2.5L.

The Omix-Ada 17218-05 Temperature Sending Unit is an excellent product. Easy to install (’95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited) and performs just as the OEM part!
Torch –
Instrument Cluster Temperature Gauge works perfect now. Installed on my 1995 Jeep YJ 2.5L. This sending unit installs on the rear driver’s side of the cylinder head.
Very fine threads so be careful when installing.

Okay so after much messing around I have finally gotten my YJ showing a correct temperature using OMIX-ADA products. The temp sending unit and gauge appear NOT to be cross compatible with stock components they have to be used as a pair i.e. if you put in their sender it does not work with the stock gauge and vise versa. If you try and take an ohm measurement on the sender it shows 0 even when heated and the gauge has a very different resister value and layout compared to the stock gauge.
