I am a Vine reviewer who actually opens the box, really tests, really evaluates, and writes really honest unbiased reviews of products. Really.
I always go back and read the advertiser description and other reviews. No other reviews at the time of this writing.
I am a retired business owner, Service Writer, and mechanic. I’m pretty familiar with devices like this.
Even though an OBD2 power saver is a simple device, and its only job is to keep power to the onboard ECU or computer, it can still cause damage if the pinout is incorrect. I checked this device to make sure it is wired correctly, and mine is. (I would still check every device before using)
Pin 4 is chassis ground, Pin 5 is signal ground, and Pin 16 is power. Pretty simple.
(I did check every other pin to make sure none of the other pins supplied power)
I rate the device itself as a 5-star item, but the instructions should simply be ignored. Pretty strange.
Most people using one of these won’t need them anyway.
Works as it should.

In the past I have tried to use another battery and a couple of short cables to try to keep the car powered while switching the battery. It was like handling a bomb while hoping that one of the jumper cables didn’t come off of one of the battery cables in the process. All so that I could keep the ODB2 powered up and keep the radio from locking out. This is so much easier and convenient. Just plug into the ODB2 port, connect to a spare battery and then go under the hood and deal with the battery swap. Much easier way to get the job done.
