I had to replace this part recently, along with the resistor. The one I originally bought from a physical retailer worked fine, and so does this one. It’s hard to say more, these parts aren’t competitive where one will be way better than another. They are certainly both functional, comparable to the OEM original part for sure.

So yeah, this one gets the job done, for sure. It fits properly, it spins up and blows about right, and all together it’s doing what it should be doing. I can’t comment on the reliability, we’ll have to put a few years on it before even considering that, these should be lifetime parts even if my factory blower did die at 120k miles.

I’m not sure what to make of the little weights added to balance the fan. I think it’s great if this is a matter of attention to detail, but I do wonder why this part needs to be balanced when it’s nothing as compilated as the wheels or anything that generally needs balancing. Maybe yours won’t come with them, but take a look, you might see a few.

But for now, it’s working fine, and that’s what you need in the Summer for sure. If it does have trouble, I’ll update the review, but otherwise, you can assume it’s going strong.

Going to write this up as partial install guide and review. I recommend looking at videos that show the process of installation. The panel under the bottom glove compartment (the Fit has two if you are reading this and don’t own a Fit) pulls down and off, being held in by 3 clips with the back plastic pegs just resting in holders. Completely remove the panel and get it out of the way. Now hopefully you put some points in your acrobatics skills because the hard part is you basically need to be almost standing on your head to access the blower motor. First you remove the wire connector, then you need to remove 3 screws. They are dual 8mm and T20 torx. I used the 8mm on two of them, but one is between the U shaped plastic piece so I used the T20. Then it just needed a pull to get it out. Some installation videos I watched seemed to indicate the motor also had a hold down clip of some sort, my 2009 did not.

After removing the old blower motor I compared it to the new one. Very similar in design. The new one had pieces of metal on the fan blades. They used this at the factory to balance the spin, so don’t remove them! Given the old one did not have these I’m forced to conclude the manufacturing quality is lower. That said at least we know they balance them. I’m not taking stars off for this, because the Honda blower motor is ten times the price! It better, be better! The new one has to be held up while you screw it in. While dripping in sweat, almost standing on my head and using an electric screwdriver I managed to get one screw in. Took a break, then the next screw, and finally that hard one in the U shaped plastic protrusion. Clipped the wire back in and put the plastic panel back on. Tested the fan and I clearly have all fan speed settings. Before my 1 & 2 speeds were very close to each other and my fan switch was getting hot (from using too much power). Now everything works as it should with clear increases in fan speeds through the various settings. So if you need this for your 2nd generation Honda Fit you are safe to do so! Just have the right bits and preferably an electronic screwdriver or an assistant to hold it up while you screw it down tight.
