PROS: Good replacement for Kohler 22HP (9 pin), fits perfect, spins fast, starts up instantly (seems to start faster than OEM did), easy install, identical wiring and bolt patterns. CONS: Unknown longevity, worm gear moves out 1/8 inch less than old one (but, it has no effect on starting), bolt mounts are slightly less robust, again no effect on mounting or use (initially at least). Overall great value when compared to OEM pricing on a new starter. OEM starter failed within days of 3 year warranty expiring, so hopefully this may last as long or longer…time will tell. Enjoy!

The starter was installed on April 13,2024. Had no issues installing the starter and for 60days it Worked well. Went to start my mower today only to find the starter had failed. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

Well-made. This 3rd Gen starter features significant upgrades compared to the older generation. The upgrades include a larger shaft and lower gear ratio (higher torque). It bolts right in and works better than the original .
