I installed the gas cap and when I took it off to put in gas alot of gas vapor came out of the neck of the tank as I raised off the cap. I believe the cap should not allow that much pressure to build up in the tank.

despite what Amazon says this does not fit my 1970 LTD second one I’ve tried like this. too cheap to bother returning. not issue with the cap it’s self just need to update there fitment criteria.

Needed a new gas cap for my older Mercedes, fits fine on a 1970 250 and now I know I’m not leaking gas fumes everywhere. Yay!

Seems to work. Won’t let fumes out but lets air in. Seems to be sealing well. When I take the cap off to put gas in the tank there is a strong pressure build up because it won’t let fumes out. I don’t know if there is an upper pressure limit at which it vents. Mine has a lot of pressure in this hot weather when I take the cap off.

Haven’t been able to get this cap to fully close no matter what. I’ve put oil on the gasket and using a big pair of channel locks turned sidesways, grabbed both ears on the cap but it won’t fully turn. Tried again using grease and channel locks but no luck. I’ve removed/installed countless gas caps in my time but can’t recall one like this.

The cap is not vented and creates a suction in the tank.
