This solves a big problem for me. We have 2 vehicles that aren’t driven very often, and the charge on the car battery will frequently be too weak to start the car when we need it, especially when it’s cold outside. I have been keeping them charged using a Battery Tender (charger), which I have had to put under the hood, using the jumper clamps that came with the tender, but it requires leaving the hood unlatched so the power cord can connect to the charger. With this adapter, I can just plug it into the cigarette lighter, then into the charger, and bring the extension cord in through the door weatherstrip. This also lets me keep the charger on the dash board, where I can see the status lights through the windshield, ensuring that the charger is doing its job. This lets me keep the hood latched, the doors locked and the charger out of the elements.
BE CAREFUL:
There are two versions of this – each with a different wiring polarity to the SAE quick disconnect. This version is to provide power INTO the battery. The other version (reversed polarity wiring to the SAE connector) is for taking power FROM the battery, to power auxiliary devices inside the car. (I didn’t notice this at first. Now I’m the proud owner of both versions).

Item does not work. Very cheaply made. Connected to my Battery Tender and plugged into the cigarette lighter and nothing happens. No lights and charger doesn’t recognize it’s plugged in. Junk. Do not buy!

I needed this to plug my new iPhone into my electric drum kit and it works great. The drum kit has no other way to play music (ie, no WiFi etc) so the only way is with a cord for both the phone and the electric product. Good price too.

Appears well made and reasonably durable. It fit my cigarette lighter socket without a problem and worked as intended. It is fused and has a red LED light on the plug which lets you know that your charger is applying power.
You might want to consider keeping one of these around, especially if your car is like mine, where the battery is located in the trunk and the trunk only opens with an electric latch – no key! If the battery goes dead for some reason, (like you left the dome light on overnight) you can’t open the trunk to charge the battery, (brilliant design, I know)! If that happens to you, as it did to me, this little adapter will save you a whole lot of misery!
If your car is like mine, you might consider buying one of these, before you need it. They are almost impossible to find in auto parts stores and other retail outlets. Amazon delivered within 24 hours.

It doesn’t work on my snowmobile. The accessory plug is wired through my key so it won’t work. It keeps trying to power my electronics and doesn’t charge the battery regardless of the key position.
