I am a back yard mechanic and installed these on a 2008 impala. I had to buy a large socket 22mm deep well but that was the only tool I did not have. One of the bolts you have to soak with PB blaster and hammer around a bit but it will come loose. I replaced both sides because going over low speed bumps made all sorts of clunking and popping sounds from the trunk. I thought maybe the spare tire had come loose and was bouncing around. After installing these it is super smooth and and no more noise except the sound that new cars have going over bumps.. the thsss sound of the fluids going through the valve in the strut. Also a good thing happened that I did not expect, I always thought the rear of the car sat up way to high and looked funny. With the rear so high it also affected the handling and braking properties in a negative way. It seems GM set up the rear suspension for the few times you have a trunk full of luggage, a full tank of gas, and three adults sitting in the back seat. All that stuff has never happened to me at the same time so I have always wanted to drop the rear about 2 inches. These struts dropped the rear about 2 inches and now the impala looks WAY better and also handles and brakes much more even and level. I would have replaced the OEM ones years back just for the improvement in handling, braking, and looks if I would have known.
Bottom Line: Fixed clunking and popping noise from the trunk when going over low speed bumps. Made the car sit much more level improving the handling, braking, and looks of the car. Installation may take longer then expected as a few of the bolts can be stubborn to remove.

Installed a set of these on the front of my 2007 Impala LS about four and a half years ago thinking that replacing the strut and spring would make it last much longer. 80,000 miles later, and they are mush – constantly bottoming out and not performing as they should. Asked for the warranty replacement, and the dealer bounced the front of the car and proclaimed they were working as they should, and unless there were leaks (there were no leaks) they couldn’t be warrantied. So much for the lifetime warranty!! Buyer beware!!

I purchased these right and left from Amazon and just to be sure I went to the Monroe site to verify fittment before installing. Found out they do not fit the 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix like Amazon states.I reordered the proper 371662 and am awaiting them to arrive. Not sure quality but they look good.

Excellent strut and simple to install. I put 4 all the way around on a 2001 Impala. With the buy 4get one free deal Monroe has until the end of November, I also saved some nice change! I am not a professional motor head but I can muddle through most tasks…this was pretty easy. I found some videos on YouTube that helped with the visual too. The rear struts were a bit more difficult on the Chevy Impala because of the strut tower being tucked deep in the trunk so access was blind in a sense but nothing that cannot be done if you take a breath and exercise patience!

Learned how to replace this with the first strut so it took a bit longer but went well. The second strut went much faster. Previous reviews/tips and You Tube were very helpful. No more clatter in the back end. Car rides and brakes much better.

Improved ride and noise quality, but sets at least an inch too low! When I installed them I immediately noticed the car sat about 2 inches lower then originals with no extra weight in back of car. At that point car was setting close to level. 2 inches lower, but level. Now a few months later springs have settled and now sets at least 1 inch lower then the front. Looks stupid!! Now when I go to replace the front struts I imagine it will make it set even higher in the front. I would not recommend unless you like that bumper dragging look!!!!!!!!!!!!! ” I DONT ” !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I already wrote a review for this Quick-Strut that was installed on the Right side of my car – the 271662R version of this strut. All my comments apply to this strut as well. Easy to install, restores factory original ride quality, handling and ride height. Would purchase again.
