Thinking to save some money and go all DIY I ordered a full set of struts for my Honda. It only took watching a couple of youtube videos and a two hour struggle, I got everything installed and put back together. The strut is a noticeable improvement to the old strut. Having the spring on the strut ahead of time made it safer also.

Installed Quick-struts on all fours corners of my 2000 Honda Accord LXV6 4dr with 167000 miles on it and it was surprisingly easy! If you’ve ever replaced a shock absorber you can install these.
The dust boot on one of the rear struts was not attached at the top and I could not reattach it. The overall quality of the strut isn’t as good as the original Honda in that the dust boot on the Honda is securely attached at both the top and bottom but on the quick strut it is (or is suppose to be) only attached to the top. It is loose at the bottom. The strut body seems to be built of a thinner material too but not enough to be concerned about.
The dust boot is not designed to be attached at the bottom on either the original Honda struts or the new Monroe struts on the FRONT struts. It is only attached at the top.
One thing I looked all over the internet for was some idea of what the ride height should be for the Honda Accord but I couldn’t find it. It isn’t in the Honda repair manual either. So maybe someone will find my numbers useful. With a full tank of gas, 30psi in the tires before I installed the new struts, measuring from the garage floor up to the highest point of the wheel well (on the outside body of the car) I had the following measure measurements:
Rear, both slides: 26-3/4 inches
Front, both sides: 27-1/8 inches
after installation of all four struts
Rear, both sides: 27-3/8 inches
Front, both sides: 27-3/8 inches
As you might expect after 167000 miles on the old struts, the new struts improved the ride. Hope this helps. The $100 rebate on 4 was nice too!
A thought concerning the “grief” encountered by “TM” with the misaligned cap … first off, I think he was very generous giving 3 stars given the seriousness of the problem encountered! I would have given it 1 star since it wasn’t usable. Having learned from “TM”, I checked to see if the strut looked like it was going to fit BEFORE taking the car apart. You can’t be 100% sure but “TM” said his was off by 45 degrees and that much would be easy to spot. Just open the hood of your car, hold the strut so the top bolts are oriented the same as the top bolts of the strut that’s installed on your car. When it is oriented the same the bolt relief indentation on the quick-strut should be facing the opposite side of the car. In other words, if you’re checking the driver’s side strut, the indentation should be directly facing the passenger side of the car. If it isn’t, there is a problem! Thanks “TM” for sharing your pain with the rest of us!

Part was an exact replacement. Delivered in good heavy box, but replacement package of nuts for the top of the strut were missing. Could ship back and have replaced or given a phone number to call for replacement package of nuts. Chose to have package of nuts delivered to house (back-ordered and will arrive in 30 days.)

As stated for my review of the right-hand strut, if you get one of these with the spring setup right, I am sure they are great. This one put up a bit of a fight going in but seems to be operating acceptably after all that effort. Sadly it does seem that there are QC issues with this brand. Both struts I received had Mounts that seemed to be at an angle making installing them a bit tougher than it needed to be. With the Right unable to be installed at ALL because the spring was clocked about 180 degrees out. As I didn’t have a spring compressor I opted to return the Right hand strut and leave the factory Honda strut in as it didn’t seem to be defective or damaged.

I am very happy with the results and thrilled with the price. I bought all 4 strut assemblies and got one free with the purchase so it cost me a little more than $300 to replace all 4 struts. My Honda Accord has 232,000 and the thing handles like new. I definitely recommend these.

The Quick-Struts felt solid and were relatively easy to install (with the exception of the control arm nuts that wouldn’t come off no matter how much WD-40 and torque I provided). It was missing some of the nuts for the top part of the strut assembly (the bag was opened and cardboard box damaged during shipment), so I ended up using some of the nuts from the old struts. After a weekend road trip, the suspension feels dramatically better than the deficient shocks I was using in the front of my 2000 Honda Accord EX (even though I was hoping for a softer ride overall).
