When the necessity of changing the struts on my car came along, the thought of doing the job myself was something I rated up there with going to the dentist for a root canal…..not fun. I contemplated the cost against having someone else do the work and considered taking it to a local mechanic. Then while shopping around for replacement parts I came across the Monroe Quick Strut Assembly.
The installation of these complete strut assemblies makes the job very simple. The struts when in smoothly. Yes, you still need a second person unless your arms are six feet long, however it is still not complicated. Once installed the car drove amazingly smooth again,
For those that are troubled by the thought of spring compressors and a lengthy time of performing a strut change, these quick strut assemblies are the answer.

I contacted Monroe for an explanation about the difference between a quick-strut (pre-loaded with a spring) versus a strut. For a very small charge, the quick-strut comes pre loaded with the spring, so with a few tools anyone might have (some sockets and ratchets or air/elec power wrench) you can do this job in your driveway with a jack and jack stand. The other confusing point I found is that their information says the quick-strut is good for both 2.5l and 3.0l engines! I was told their engineering team determined the performance exceeds the OE specifications and can be used on either vehicle. I was skeptical, but it has proven a dramatic improvement so far, with no negatives. I would buy these again, not just because I know and respect the monroe brand, but because they have proven as simple a replacement as I was told they would be. Highly recommend this product. There is a difference from the drivers side to the passenger side, and there are 2 different part numbers, be sure you are ordering the correct one!
Not having to fool with a spring compressor made this one of the simplest DIY jobs I have done on my vehicles to date. I used an air-wrench for the lower connection and my electric power wrench to take off the top 4 mounting bolts. The entire job took about 20 minutes per side on a 10 year old vehicle with these tools. This could not have been easier to do, and there are a number of very good videos on YouTube showing quick-strut installation.
As simple as this is, changing the struts and shocks on any vehicle will change the alignment. You must get your wheels aligned after replacing even one of these units.

The product arrived on time. The box was not packaged well and the tab for the break line bent and the nuts fell out in the mail truck. The vehicle rides great and once the tab was bent back it worked as it should. Need to invest in a little better packaging material.

I purchased this on Wednesday and it arrived Friday. It worked great for my application and it fixed the noise problem I had. This is the left strut which was the noisy one. Since these need to be replaced in pairs and Amazon did not have the right side, I purchased it from someone who had an Amazon store front and it still has not shipped. I wish Amazon had both sides as they shipped extremely fast and was about $9.00 less than the one purchased from the other person. But I still am not complaining. I will have new struts on my vehicle for about 1/2 the price of having a repair shop replace them.

These strut’s definitely improved the ride tremendously.
Well worth the price and highly recommended.
They were easy to install as well, as long as you have the right tools.

Boy what an adventure!!!! Buyer BEWARE!!!!! I bought this strut in February but had quite an experience in May when i was installing. The strut is fine but DON’T use the nuts that come packed with the unit. I broke one of the mounting plate studs while installing and I was only at about HALF the specified torque. So I had to have the mounting plate replaced at a cost of around $65. Then when installing the strut again and taking all the precautions I could, using oil on the studs, tightening only a couple turns, letting it rest and starting over on the tightening sequence—yep broke another stud on the new plate. I was at 40 ft-lbs the the mount spec is 59-60 ft-lbs. So i was forced to buy another strut and of course the price went up another $25—so this easy strut job wound up costing me $370.00 for the originally priced item at $139.95. Funny I had no problem with the right strut. Did a little investigating. Found that the nuts packed with the left strut are grade 10 pinch nuts and the nuts that came with the right strut were NOT pinch nuts. Grade 10 yes but NOT pinch nuts. The studs on the mounting plates are only grade 8. Do the math. Grade 10 PINCH nuts do not give like a grade 8 stud so–SNAP–there you have it. I used the grade 8 nuts that were on the old strut and all is fine after waiting a week and shelling out $370.00 for a $140.00 part. Not very happy with this purchase at all. You’d think that the seller would Know better!!!! Amazon sold both but the right one came from a different place who packed the correct nuts in the box. LIVE AND LEARN. Beware of what you buy on the net!!!!!!

Mechanic said they couldn’t fully align friend’s vehicle because the strut was bent. I replaced with this but noted no damage to the original strut?
Simple install, this replacement was just like the OEM. One of the welded nuts on the back broke loose but I just help it with pliers while I tightened the bolt through it. No problem.
Friend says it rides great.
