I just wanted to post a review, because I had so many questions before I swapped my Lincoln navigators airbag shocks to Coil struts
They ride great. Same or better than airbags. Plus they never let you down. So nice to know your not going to have to wait for leaky bags to air up or when cold give out all together. I wasted over $1800 – 2000 trying to fix the airbag system over the last year for a replacement bag rebuild. That did not work. Then a complete new shock that failed. Then a better brand air shock. That kinda worked. 2 seperate compressors.
Thus works. Trust me. I really wish I had seen a review like this earlier so I would’ve made the change years ago.

ok the front is definitely easier to replace. when mounted theses hung down about 2-3 below the bottom mount. i used a bottle jack to get the bottom of the strut into position to install the bolt. this takes some time to get it right, especially on the first one you do. you will have to remove the tie rod end but put it back before bolting the bottom of the strut in position. otherwise it wont go. i believe the tie rod bolt was 11/16 and i used an 8mm wrench to hold the stud from spinning. plan on 1 1/2-2 hours per back wheel.

Perfect fit very easy conversion wish I would’ve done it a lot sooner well worth the money. Rides like a new car better than it did with the air right I think and it actually looks better to

From the three items ordered only one fitted, and the others need to be returned, when to local auto parts with the same part number and installed with no issues. Hard to trust Amazon with auto parts, no reliable. Time it’s money and you can get the right fit in an hour from top competitors.

Great price! Fast and easy install (for my mechanic). Good ride and no more headaches and worry about my air ride system getting stuck! Hated to lose that feature but faced with the option of constant maintenance, it was the way for me to go. There was one set of replacement struts for the Navigator that was a little cheaper. I read complaints about holes for mounting not lining up plus I couldn’t find any brand/manufacturing information. The Monroe struts were once again the best option for me.

I have a 2006 Lincoln Navigator with 140k miles on it. I am told that 2006 was the last year that Lincoln put air ride on all 4 corners of the Navigator and after that only put them on the back. Over the winter I discovered that I needed to replace the compressor after it refused to run on a particularly cold day. That led to the discovery that my truck had a slight leak at the seals on the front air struts. The dealership wanted a ridiculous amount of money to replace the seals and I was concerned that a new compressor might overwhelm a set of 9 year old air struts so I opted to remove the air ride and convert to conventional. I work for a company with a very large Ford Fleet so when looking for a solution I spoke to our mechanics who recommended going with Monroe.

I was able to buy the front and back set of Monroe’s Quick Struts for less than any of the well known “conversion kits” which are basically the same thing.

It has been ridiculously hot in Texas lately so I decided to punt and hire a local shop to install them for me. I paid them $250 to install the full set, front and back. It took a mechanic with a lift and the right tools about 2 hours to do the job, maybe a little less.

Just like I had read in many forums, my Navigator now sites 1.5-2 inches higher than it did with air struts. Personally, I think it looks better sitting a little bit higher. I recently drove a new Navigator and the height is pretty much the same as what mine is now.

I have put about 2500 miles on the truck since installing these including 1500 miles of highway going to FL and back. I asked my wife if she could tell a difference and she could not so I take that as a sign of success.

I can not tell any difference in how my truck handles in traffic or on the highway but people are more likely to grab a handle to pull themselves in when they get in now.

I have not addressed the “Suspension Switched Off” message on the dash yet as all of the instructions that I have found from the “conversion” companies involve cutting wires which I am completely against.

I honestly think that this conversion just extended my ownership of this truck 3 years.

  7. Review By Owner

This is a quick review of my Monroe Quick Strut install. My 2003 Ford Expedition needed new struts. I still had the originals on and it was like driving a boat. After getting some bids for replacement from local shops I decided to do it myself. The bids were from $1200-$1400. I purchased the Monroe Quick Struts from Amazon for $450. Instead of paying nearly a thousand more for someone else to do it I did it myself. I had to invest in a few tools I was missing but who doesn’t love getting new tools? After the job was done I had to pay a shop to do an alignment which cost $80.

Overall I am very pleased with the results. The shocks work fantastic and I saved a ton of cash. During this job I replaced my front sway bar links that were bad. Initially I planned on showing the job start to finish but ran into some problems. Since the car is a 2003 and they were the original struts I had to deal with seized bolts. I got them off with a combination of penetrating oil, propane torch, and a hammer. If not for those problems I would have showed the full video. If your bolts are not seized the job is very easy. It only requires a few bolts removed to complete. I hope you get some benefit from this video. The Monroe Quick Struts are a simple upgrade if you need new shocks or struts
