You won’t believe what happened to me.
Bought 2 of these to change my shocks in the back of my civic. I had one day to change them. When I went to open one of the boxes with the strut come to find out for some reason it was already opened and all the replacement parts were gone from it. It ended up being my scrambling to find a car and get a vehicle to find replacement parts that go on the strut. All this as I’m rushing to get it done before I go to work.
Do not buy unless you want a complicated day.

Shock itself is good. however the nuts included are not Nylok, and instead of using a hex socket drive on top it has two flats on the threaded area, requiring the use of a box wrench to hold the shock in place while the nuts are turned. This makes the shock incompatible with anti-vibration nuts; if you use them check periodically that the nuts are not backing off.

These shocks were “half” the price on Amazon compared to Advance Auto Parts. Same brand and model. Easy to install yourself. I did it with another person to help but I am a girl who has the very basic knowledge of any automobile.

Still trying to choose my words but they go something like this…@%!&#*$…i will get to this review later
It’s later…final review…don’t waste your money with these shocks. I am currently searching for a new set because less than a year later (original purchase 12/13/18 now 10/2019) the shocks are blown. In all fairness, I occasionally tow a light trailer loaded with kayaks and have had the trunk stuffed with family of 4 all at one time. The factory shocks lasted 5 years under the same conditions.
The rear springs are not the best from the factory as well; Honda didn’t foresee anyone that might have to install a hitch (even the little old couple that may have a scooter to tote around). I called my local suspension shop which is very well known for their work (Thurston Springs in Richmond, Va) and unfortunately there is nothing they could do or recommend to beef up the rear suspension. I am hoping I can find a better set of rear shocks that can take a little more of a beating. I did however find some inserts that fit inside the spring which is supposed to stiffen up the spring, kinda like pre-loading the spring so the theory goes. The drawback to the inserts is that they can pop out of place which is not a good situation to be in.
One last thing, the top of the shock has a flattened area above the threads which is where a wrench is supposed to hold while tightening the nut (the nut has no locking features), the flattened area will round out very easily making it difficult to get the nut tightened properly. Find some shocks that fit an allen key in top vs the flattened area. Also, the metal sleeves that fit over the threaded rod were too long; I had to cut off the excess so I could tighten down the nut properly; I heard a clunking sounds every time I hit a bump until I trimmed down the sleeves.
