When I started doing maintenance on my 22 year old BMW, the first place I started was by changing my own oil. Found out I needed copper crush washers. Went to Amazon and got plenty of washers to last as long as I own my car. All automakers should use these.

These brass washers fit both the engine drain plug and the automatic transmission drain plug.
Make sure to put the “flat†side of the washer on the drain plug towards the plug.

It’s really a simple part but if you do your own work, you will need these. The problem is the auto parts store want more than the price of the whole bag for one part. I have 3 cars these fit so it’s a bargain and they work just fine.

I bought these a while back so I would have them when I changed oil, too bad that the return time has expired. The Amazon order info showed these fit my 2020 Subaru Outback but when I changed oil today, they were not the correct size, (too small). Not a good thing to find out in the middle of an oil change.
Be aware that the ordering information is not correct on Amazon. Hard to confirm the size was wrong until the oil plug is removed.
