I’ve been using Meguires products for years and they’ve always been “fine” for DIY detailing. I received this the other day and decided to give it a shot. I’d say it’s definitely quite a bit above average lubricity. The price certainly reflects this.
It smells fantastic and the sprayer is very nice as well.
Oh and I must say, they FILL the bottles down to the last drop. Once you have the spray nozzle on there’s about 1 millimeter of room before it overflows. Really nice to see a company actually fill their bottles!!
I’d definitely recommend this to someone that needs something to lubricate their paint before they clay bar!

Finally, super smart and simple packaging! I never considered how MaxShine’s simple solution to product delivery could be so smart for everyone else with “sprayer” products. The product arrives, well wrapped with a normal lid on the bottle and the sprayer separate so it won’t unwind in shipping or fracture causing leakage. Well done.
The product itself is easy to use and apply and I’ve only tried a small area, but so far I like the results to assist in using clay to remove fine scratches and surface contamination on your car. Without lubricant, using a clay bar is a nightmare, this dramatically improves the process.

I had high expectations that this would offer better performance for claying my car paint over my usual concentrated mixture of car wash and water but sadly it did not create the level of smooth or slick surface I was expecting. I had to spray quite a bit of product to make the surface feel smooth enough to clay. What bothered me the most was the melon/fruity scent, it was fairly strong and for some people it could be considered nice, but it was not for me and my hands smelled like the product a while after I had used it. The bottle came sealed with its own cap, and spray nozzle taped to the outside so hopefully it will hold up okay if shipped with other items in your order.

This product does work to help lubricate when using clay bars. However, I’m still not convinced that it is really necessary, and I am not sure that it works any better than a little dish detergent in a spray bottle with water. As far a use for a quick detailer, this lubricant does leave a residue if not completely wiped or rinsed off. So, IMO its ok, but its a pretty high priced item for what it is.

This Maxshine Clay Lube Spray (16oz) – Synthetic Lubricant for Clayblock & Car Detailing Clay does a pretty good job of adding slipperiness to your claying activity. I am not well experienced with using a clay bar but did see a dramatic improvement in using this product versus the generic car wash soap and water.
It is very sunny here this week so I was only able to do a small area – a couple of square feet – on the wife’s older suv. The results were good. Pricing is consistent with other lubricants, it was well-packaged, and arrived in a timely manner.
With my beginner’s experience, I rate this as a very good buy (but, I haven’t used many commercial products).

Used this with a clay towel on my daily driver and had that “did I just turn my hood into a mirror?” moment. The spray lays down a decent slick layer so the clay glides without dragging or fighting back. You don’t need to drown the car with it either—just a couple spritzes and you’re in business. It’s got that fruity scent, kind of like a melon air freshener collided with a Gatorade bottle, but nothing too wild unless you’ve got a sensitive nose. I didn’t mind it… though my dog followed me around afterward like I was hiding a treat.
No streaking, no residue, and the bottle didn’t leak or explode in transit—which at this point feels like an accomplishment. It gets the job done, makes claying feel less like arm day, and didn’t make me question my life halfway through the hood. Definitely adding this to the detailing shelf.

My son has been detailing (DIY) for years, and based on a YouTube review, I got him this to add to his arsenal of detailing supplies. He used it with a clay towel to help prep my 2018 Murano for a ceramic coating.
