This is a high tech MAF sensor used mostly in the automotive industry. MAF stands for MASS AIR FLOW. It is a very important component that is utilized by the computer in your car to measure the amount of air coming through the intake manifold, headed for the combustion chamber in the cylinder head of your engine. The computer reads the sensor and is able to regulate the fuel being injected into that same cylinder head. By doing this the computer is able to adjust your air/fuel mixture just right in order to get the best performance from your engine but it also reduces carbon emissions (pollution) and increases your cars fuel milage.

Works as it should.

Correct fit for my 1997 Regal LS 3.8L engine. Just rolled over a mere 88,000 miles. Only takes a few minutes to install. You do need a security bit as seen in the picture to remove the two screws that hold the MAF sensor to the throttle body. It’s a Torx bit with a hole in the center. Took her for a ten minute drive on the interstate and it’s running as smooth as silk. Old one will be kept as a back up. When the MAF sensor goes bad, the engine will not run is what I’ve heard.
Update: 9/8/23. I have been having trouble when starting the engine when it is hot and in the closed loop mode. (ECM controlling the engine) The idle will be too low and then shoot up to maybe 2000 RPM’s for a couple of seconds before it settles down to normal idle around 700 RPM’s. From a stone cold start, open loop mode, there are no such problems. Only hot starts in closed loop mode.

Works good, although we had to get a security bit set to remove the old one, but the part fixed the issue!

For the price it’s great fixed my issue but unfortunately only lasted 4 months. Now back to having to replace the MAF sensor again. Wouldn’t recommend for long term reliability.
