This is a paper based oil filter and the product quality is normally good. However as on other occasions recently, the driver for Amazon ignored the sign by the front door to leave deliveries under a nearby canopy, just left the parcel on the front doorstep where it was soaked by the rain.
AMAZON please take note and stop your driver doing this

I purchase this filter for my 1981 BMW 528i, and I must say that I am very pleased to install an old fashioned canister oil filter on my car.
The canister filters are bigger, and I can only assume that they can filter out more impurities than a smaller spin-on filter.
If you have an older BMW, enjoy the fact that you are purhcasing a better filter than anything that comes afterward.

The oil filter does not reflect this in the picture, however to fit in a 1992 BMW 735 IL, you have to remove the cone shaped gaskets on each end and replace with the OEM flat gaskets or gaskets from the last oil filter that fit correctly into the oil filter casing. I would not try to shave them down or remove them without placing a proper flat gasket on each end.
