Fine for 98 323i, seems a little lighter than OEM, but fits fine. Great instructions included. Some people replace without removing glove box, but its not really that big a deal to remove (and didn’t have to split filter frame)…you better be able to contort your body under the dash if not removing box. have vacuum cleaner handy for filter mess if its been a long time since last change.

Great quality and price ! Installed in a 1993 BMW 325I . Warning / This placement of this filter was a HUGH P.I.T.A !!! The guys who designed its placement must have been into torture ! After an hour of cut knuckles and a sore back and neck , I removed it caked in dirt and leaves. I now know why the previous owner never changed !

Keine Ahnung was sich die Ingenieure des Autos gedacht haben, es ist einfach eine blöde Stelle im E36. Beim alten Filter war der Rahmen komplett gebrochen, bei disesem reichte es auf einer Seite zu brechen um den Filter einführen zu können. Man sollte vorher aber dort mit einem Staubsauger sauber machen.

Anyone who has replaced one of these in an E36 BMW knows that it is about a one hour job. You have to remove the glove box and some A/C ducts. This filter contains excellent step-by-step instructions in photographs. Be careful when you remove the light in the glove box because it has a long plastic piece that extends from the light back to the button you push to open the glove box. It is easy to break if you don’t extract the lamp assembly carefully. Installation of the filter is a little tricky because it’s a very tight fit. I couldn’t do it without using the break-areas already in place on the filter frame. That allows the filter to bend in three sections. Once the filter is in it lays flat in the holder. I guess that’s why there are those lines in the frame to allow you to break it so it will bend a little during installation.

Installed in less then 10 mins. i did not remove the glove blox it was way easier to go under the passenger dash and replace it from there. fit perfectly fine in my 1996 e36 , the filter that was in there was from original . And was causing airflow to be minimum . This worked amazing more airflow . Great product.
Endeavor to Persevere –
Changing a cabin filter in a 036 BMW is a lot more involoved than need be. You have to pull the glovebox, a heater vent, dislodge an electrical terminal box and even then it is a pain to reach the filter. I had pulled my glovebox for another reason and decided to change the filter since I was near it. Once I received the filter from Amazon, which came quickly and was at a reasonable price, I found that Mann had included an instruction booklet telling how to access the filter. I sure wish I had had the booklet when I started the project. It would have been very helpful. I kept the booklet in my file for future reference. The booklet is pictures and no real intruction, but once you figure out what the symbols mean, it would guide you through the process. Without this booklet and/or help from the internet, it would be difficult to located all the trim screws you need to pull and especially hard to find the 10mm bolt that you have to access by first removing the glove box light.
