A three-pole switch allows The switch to be lit. Check wiring diagrams to correctly wire a constant on light that follows your dashboard lights. You don’t have to use the third pole on this switch. You can leave it dark. It’s good to have the option if wiring for dash lights is a pain in the ass. The switch is positive and has a good feel. A simple circular hole is all you need to mount.

Nice switches. They have a good solid click when activated. The light is nice and bright. You will need a 3/4″ drill bit for the hole to snap these in or a 1-1/8″ bit if you want to use the grommet & nut that comes with them. The short pre-made stranded copper wire is on the lighter side at I believe to be 24ga though so definitely not for higher amp projects. Overall they are fairly nice lighted switches for low voltage projects.
