My new car did not have a cigarette lighter plus and my escort radar detector only uses a cigarette lighter plug. This solved the problem and powers my radar detector.

This was very easy to install but as soon as I plugged something into the cigarette port my entire radio shut off. Definitely a power drain and a huge one at that. Kind of risky idk if I would recommend.

It does what is meant for.
I used it to connect my dashcam. I did not like the bulky dashcam lighter socket sticking out in my front car panel. Therefore, I decided to get this to hide the lighter socket under the seat.

My dash cam power cord has a cigarette ligher plug. I had it routed to the cigarette lighter socket in my middle console, but the cable was too short to route it in a way to keep it out of sight. Been like that for years until I purchased this converter. It added some length and enabled me to route the cord under my middle console so that it is out of sight and looks better. Plus the conversion to USB allows me repurpose my cigarette ligher socket to power both my camera and charge my phone using my car charger which has both a USB and USB-C connection. Now all of my wires are hidden when not in use instead of always hanging out. Much cleaner interior.
