For color matching the black dyed leather, you cant get much closer. The texture match sheets however are a complete waste of time. They actually become glued to your project and tear when trying to remove them, leaving behind material from the sheet that is white. Fill your tear and level it off with the included spatula, you WILL be applying a second and possibly third coat depending on the size of the tear. on the last coat after an hour you can press the Texture Sheet into the partially dry patched area, remove it and the pattern will transfer. If done to a wet patch, the patch will stick to the texture sheet

This seems to work quite well- on the flat surfaces, even the little cloth to put on the pattern worked well, it looked just like the old original vinyl. My spot (motorcycle seat) was at the edge so the uneven parts didn’t take the pattern, but the patch still worked. I’m curious to see how it does over time…but all things considered right now, I’m happy.

this is the stuff right here. I used this to fix the inside arm of my leather office chair where it had a long narrow rip and it did an amazing job. it went on very smoothly and i am not even able to tell it was ever even ripped. It did take a couple of applications but i have enough of this stuff left for a lifetime of repairs on this chair if it ever did start coming off but it has been a month now and it is still on there and looks fantastic. I would highly recommend this product.

We were gifted a chair from Grandma to our son which was a kid’s vinyl chair with matching footstool. When we picked it up from a small furniture store nearly 50 miles from our home we inspected it, without removing the footstool from the top of the chair in which it was stored in its box. Later 50 miles away at home, upon unpacking we noticed a small 1 1/2 inch tear on the seat being concealed by the footstool. We didn’t want to be bothered to drive 50 miles to try and haggle and return the chair and convince them it was not our fault so I ordered the vinyl repair kit.
This was shipped quickly from coast to coast. There is a decent amount of product for the price, and instructions were easy. The black matched our black vinyl almost perfectly. It took about three applications for me to be pleased with the results. Each time there is a bit of shrinkage and with that occurred a couple of pin size holes in the patch. You have to wait hours in between each application and each time I checked it is when it seemed like I made it worse so be patient and leave it be. I couldn’t get a close enough match with the grain applicator provided, there wasn’t any with a large grain but at least it has a leather texture. It looks kind of like a scab. But its very sturdy and its not tearing away with the original vinyl and stopped the tear and saved the purchase.

I had a long tear in the leather seat of my Jeep Wrangler. The glue that comes with this product worked to keep the tear from growing but the black vinyl top coat just could not seem to hold. The tear is in the thigh support area of the seat where you get in and out so it constantly gets crushed and I think this is what causes the black vinyl top coat to peel off. I believe this would work for a leather jacket or the side of a piece of furniture just not in an area that is constantly compressed and expanded.

Not nearly enough material provided to use all of the liquid. Also, when using the paper to finish the patch and give it the leather look, the paper stuck to the liquid leather and ripped like a bad sticker when removing. I had to soak the paper with water to get it off and now I can’t make another patch because I don’t have the paper to give it the leather look. I’ll be looking at a different kit to finish my seat.
