Both hood struts went out on our 2011 MDX, decided to give these a try at a fraction of the cost of the Acura ones. Figured they couldn’t have a shorter life span than the OEM struts. The OEM struts went out at around 100K miles. Super easy to replace, took less than 5 minutes, even while holding the hood up with my head

This fit my 2008 Acura MDX hood perfectly. I would have given it 5 stars but it didn’t come with any instructions. 3rd party instructions said to “remove” the black clips from the lift supports. Although this worked for removing the old one from my car, completely removing it on the new one can be disastrous. Maybe this is common knowledge but I was not aware of this so instructions included with the product would have been nice.
So DO NOT REMOVE the black clip completely. Just pry it loose slightly with a flat head screw driver and pop old lift off and pop the new lift onto the ball mount. Super easy to install once you know this. Also the lifts are very stiff. I ended up only replacing one of the two. Installing two new ones made it really hard to push down and close my hood. Maybe pushing the hood up and down several times will loosen them up a bit. Overall I would recommend this item.
