This battery mount replaced the stock plastic one on my jeep 4.0. It’s well made and fit my optima battery perfectly, but the hinge design makes orienting it difficult. I’d plan on doing a bit of fabrication to get it to work but that’s implied since this doesn’t come with bolt holes or anything like that

Heads up fir anyone like myself, that has strictly a Group 78 Optima red top battery. Mine has the side post terminals only. I didn’t realize my battery is 7.25″ in height until I tried to close the top piece of the cage. Evidently the Group 34/78 has both sides and top post options and is shorter at 6-3/4″ or 6-7/8″ tall. I contacted the seller, who responded almost immediately, considering they’re in a different time zone. They had me send pictures and worked with me to resolve the issue. They didn’t manufacture a cage specifically for the Group 78 side-post only battery. The offered to have me return it for a complete refund or if I chose to modify it, they would compensate me for a percentage of the cost. I chose to modify it and it works perfectly. This product appears to be well made and very durable. Time will tell how it holds up to New England winters, with the salt. So to wrap it up, don’t hesitate to buy this cage and if your mechanically inclined, it can be modified. And definitely two thumbs up to the seller’s customer service.

It’s very strong and fits the battery very well. Plus there is just the right amount of space to put a pad under the battery. I recommend welding it down there’s not a lot of space for bolting it down. I will be ordering more of them.

I was working on an upgrade on the electrical system on my square body chevy. I knew that I wanted to fix the battery positioning issue. Having the positive terminal really close to the front core support was not helpfully for running the battery lines. I set out to turn it 90 to face in to the engine bay using the raw steel version of this kit.
1. Not sure why this is not an option from the factory but I knew I never wanted to go hunting for dropped washed and nuts so I did a small drill out and added rivnuts to the base. This let me use the same size hardware used to mount the original battery holder to the vehicle on the battery holder so everything is matching.
2. I cut the top off of the original tray so that I could use two of the four original mounting points. Using the original framing to cut down on some of the fabrication needed.
3. I added a bracing bar across the back of the battery support to have a third original mounting point bolting the support in the vehicle.
4. I added bracing around wheel arch support to tie in the new holder. I added a cushion between the side of the battery holder and inner fender to prevent any noise if things were shifting while driving.
5. Got it all painted up and very happy with the end product the battery is facing the way I want, lower in the car, still very easy to access for maintenance going forward.

When I had a slight accident, I found that the adapters for the Optima Battery broke and the battery fell over. If the positive terminal would have touched a ground it could have started a fire 🔥. I decided that I needed something better so I bought this battery hold-down. It was the least expensive one I could find but it works well.
To install this hold-down I purchased the following from Amazon:
Two M8 wing nuts—-I like these better than the nuts provided.
Two M8 wing bolts. I like these better than the bolts provided. I bought 70mm ones but should have bought 20mm ones.
M8 X 100mm button-head bolt—- specific to my 2010 Ford Explorer — button-head bolts have heads that are smaller than hex head bolts and are less likely to damage the bottom of the battery.
M8 X50mm button-head bolt.l —- specific to my Ford Explorer.
“The Original Battery Mat” brand battery mat—-cushions the bottom of the battery to prevent the bottom of the battery from becoming damaged by the button-head bolts., It also protects the car during the unlikely event that the battery leaks.
To install this hold-down I first took the original battery tray out and measured the placement of the holes on the bottom of the tray. Using these measurements I then drilled two holes in the bottom of the hold-down. I placed the tray back into the car and placed the hold-down on top of the tray. I inserted the button-head bolts through the hold-down and tray and screwed the bolts into the original corresponding riv-nuts in the wheel well. I cut slots into the battery mat so that the battery mat would lay flat on the bottom of the hold-down. I placed the mat on the bottom of the hold-down and placed the battery on top of the mat. I put the top piece of the hold-down onto the hold-down and secured it with the two wing nuts and wing bolts.
