Installed this on my mower’s 23 horsepower Kohler engine. Kohler originally used a version of this starter with a 10 tooth drive gear. They changed to the 9 tooth drive gear because the original was too weak to start the engine when hot. Also the shaft diameter on the original was too small and was prone to fracture. This starter has the 9 tooth sprocket which delivers a higher starting torque. It also has the larger diameter shaft so it should last a lifetime. I am very happy with the quality and price. Highly recommended.

Starter stayed engaged, engaged the first time I used it hadn’t had an issue with it since then, until today, it engaged and wouldn’t unengaged and burned up six months later

Don’t go for the cheaper starters as soon as I put it on it’s fun two or three times and then would not spend no more the motor just locked up I have had terrible luck ordering these parts from Amazon

Lol worked good for 2 starts then the faulty solenoid went out and the new one I had bought was burnt up by old starter being stuck. Therefore haven’t got to battle test it but it fit my hustler 52inch raptor with the kohler kt735 just fine BTW you don’t have to take top cover off to get it out factory put a little half hole in plastic to get to second bolt and then can be carefully slid out and slide new one in pay attention to markings and wire nut for way it goes or take a picture before you pull old one. Unhook batt first and remove ground and power wire from starter
