Debated for a while. Glad I got it. Breathes better and now don’t need to waste $25-30 on a paper filter. Shouldve bought years ago lol.

Installed on a 99 tacoma. Old air filter was dirty and clogged up. Easy to install (literally 2 minutes) and works great. I noticed an improvement right away.

I really like the idea of reusable filters because in general they seem both eco-friendly and of higher quality than most of the disposable variety. This filter is really well made and with the metal mesh reinforcement I can see why it will last for years. Going this route is not all peaches and cream however, you will have to do some work to keep the filter in tip top shape. You’ll need to buy some cleanser and some filter oil. K&N of course recommends their brand and it is cheap enough that I didn’t investigate other options. When it would be time for you to replace your filter normally you will need to take this one out and clean it, dry it, oil it and air it out. The entire process can take a long time, especially the drying step, so make sure you have cleared your schedule for the day or at least have a temporary filter to use in the mean time. Overall I have no complaints and I’d buy it again if it were not for the fact that I probably won’t ever have to get a replacement.

If you’re not familiar with K&N it’s worth the money. You actually can drive close to 50k before cleaning(depending on road or off road) I have in my 4Runner for a year so far and still breathing easy. Noticeable improvement on all vehicles.

I have used K&N filters starting with my 73′ CB500 four back in the 70’s, on all my vehicles since, cars, FJ60, Datsun trucks (yes, Datsun) and Never had a problem with any of them. Probably because up until the last couple of years I did 99% of the repairs, maintenance.
I do highly recommend the K&N filters.
I advise taking a photo of your filter in place each time you let someone work on your car, just in case someone has no scruples and wants your filter. Then you have proof of theft, and where it was stolen.

Always use a K&N as it helps save gas and money. This comes with the filter plastic bracket to hold in place in a 97 4runner limited. Love it ! Comes charged perfectly and my rig is finally breathing properly. Always trust the K&N brand,don’t forget to grab a recharge kit and follow steps properly when it’s time to recharge . Great value for ease of mind and not having to grab disposables for literally half the cost of this filter. Stop wasting ,start saving !

This is probably my 3-4th K&N filter. I have been pretty dang satisfied with their quality and engineering that goes into them so I trust them with my filter needs.
I mainly get them because they are reusable and have the plus of added performance enhancements.
They are easy to clean and grease. I follow the instructions but being in Arizona and dusty I tend to clean more frequently than required. It was so easy I thought I was messing up or skipping a step, but not so.
Don’t over lube! you’ll gum up your sensors…

I have always believed that K&N air filters were the best route to go, and there are several factors. I have a 2001 Toyota 4runner, and since it is the 3rd generation, it does not have the on board fuel diagnostic feature. I figured I was getting about 18-19 MPG average (city and highway) with the K&N air filter while the manufacture suggested average is 18.5 MPG. A month ago my insurance company offered an on board diagnostic plug in to review my driving habits for potential insurance saving, and since it was free for a year, I took the offer. I have an excellent driving record so why not, it was free, and if I can save some money sure why not! Today I got my first email report from the montoring service and here are the numbers: city 18 MPG, highway 29 MPG, average 20 MPG. The suggested manufacture numbers are: city 17 MPG, higway 20 MPG, average 18.5 MPG. Over all the numbers are up, but what really impressed me the most is the highway milage. So I am getting 1-2 MPG above the manufacture average, but it is still a saving. However if you do take long trips, which I have, you will see a SUBSTANTIAL better milage, this I have confirmed after taking several long trips before the having the computer diagnostic. You can’t help if the traffic is bad so your car is sucking up gas, but if you can squeeze a few miles here and there it’s more money in your pocket. My truck just broke 95K and I just did a tune up after ordering OEM plugs and wires from Amazon, so I hope this will also improves the MPG. If anyone owns a 2001 4Runner and needs help with doing a tune up just let me know. When I took out the plugs they were bad (cone shaped instead of flat), so it should help out, engines needs lots of O2 and a good ignition. I hope this review will help anyone trying to save a few bucks, and willing to do some simple vehicle maintenance by themself. I almost forgot if you buy this filter, don’t forget to get the cleaning kit, and do it every 6 months.
