Follow BrianInAZ’s instructions and it is easy to install. I used a heat gun to warm up the rubber. The other key is to bend the hose clamp correctly. Once you do those two things it pops right on.

I bought this because I liked the idea of not using throw-away filters and I’m sure it will do a good job. My problem with it is that installing it was an ordeal. Let’s start with the fact that the instruction sheet shows the installation outside of the car – meaning that it completely avoids the issue of how you’re going to do that in a very confined space. Second, the OEM filter fits into the airbox flange, while this one fits over the flange, yet the opening on this is SMALLER than the OEM – meaning you’re supposed to stretch it? The material is a thick rubber so ‘stretching’ would be a stretch. Anyway, it took 2+ hours of McGyvering to get this installed- I would not buy again.

This is another really great product from K&N! I really like the quality! I’ve had the washable reusable air filters in vehicles in the past, and they have always been great! I put one in my Porsche Boxster, and it seems to be working well! It did come with a large clamp that I could not seem to get on the flange of the filter, so I hope it will stay seated on the intake! Fingers crossed. I recommend K&N Filters!

Incredibly hard to fit but can be done by completely undoing the screw clamp and heating/stretching the rubber using a hairdryer. Happy with it now its fitted, but not looking forward to removing to clean in a few years time…

Warning Do Not Buy. It doesn’t work. The mold of the Porsche air filter is oval and hard plastic and the K&N filter is rubber and sort of oval but no where near what it needs to be to fit. This was a waste of money to turn around and buy the factory air filter.

I have referenced K&N website to make sure that I order the right part number. I work on my own car. Only reason for me to take my car into the mechanic shop is because I don’t have the proper tools and it cost too much to buy my own. In short, I am pretty handy person. After 2 hours of trying, I have came to the conclusion that this filter simply does not fit! Make sure you get the genuine filter from Porsche dealer.
What a waste of time and money. Now I have ship the part back for refund where I pay for the return shipment cost. I have used K&N for all my cars past 20+ years. I suppose there is always a first time…

Much has been written about how difficult this filter is to install in a Porsche. The instructions are very clear, but they left out a very important step. The filter arrives round, but the Porsche filter is a very flat oval and this filter is too stiff to easily reshape properly. The trick is to heat the filter base either with a hair dryer or with near boiling water. I prefer the hot water trick. Heat a quart of water to boiling, then pour the water into a flat tray until you have 1/2″ depth. Then set the open end of the filter in the water for 3 minutes. The filter will then expand slightly and is much softer and is easily moldable. Slip the filter onto the mount in the car and only slightly tighten the clamp. Do not use any lubricant as some suggest. If you use any lube, the filter can and will slide off the mount as you are tightening the screw clamp. Heating the filter to reshape it makes this a 15 minute job. Trying to install without heating is an afternoon of frustration.
