Decent price

I purchased this for my 2008 Volkswagen R32.
– Installation –
This greatly depends on the vehicle that it is being installed in, but is no more difficult to install than the factory panel air filter. The main difference is understanding this filter is oiled to increase effectiveness in collecting particles in the air and that it will not hurt the engine with the factory amount of oil [using the re-oiling kit does require that you do not over oil the filter].
– Afterward –
Performance: You will notice that the throttle is a good bit more responsive with the increase in airflow. You will typically see better improvement with a Cold-air Intake system over this drop in panel filter, but you will also spend about $250-$300 for such a system, at least for my VW R32. At higher RPMs, you can feel the difference since the engine can breathe much easier.
Economy: Gas mileage has increased slightly, but given the performance orientation of my vehicle, I tend to be heavier on the throttle than most people. A more forgiving driving style might yield more impressive gains. I see about a 1-3 mpg overall increase, but I also find myself not needing to press the accelerator anywhere near as far to get where I want to be on the power-band.
Noise: Depending on the vehicle and driving style, you will either significantly notice it or you wont. On my 3.2l VR6 engine, the sound level has increased noticeably in a VERY pleasant way. I have also installed a similar K&N Panel filter in my ’03 Honda Accord with a 4-cyl engine, and the sound is barely noticeable with positive gains.
Value: Worth it? COMPLETELY! If you factor in replacing your paper filter for ~$10-20 a pop, you end up spending quite a bit on filters over the life of the car. This filter is good for 100k miles before needing to be CLEANED and RE-OILED [may vary based on how dusty it is where you live; ie: a desert. etc]. If you don’t feel adventurous enough to clean and re-oil, it’s inexpensive enough to just buy a new filter!
Recommended? HIGHLY without a doubt!

High quality K&N filter worth every penny. Fit and finish excellent.A little more air means a little more power and a little better gas milage.

Easy to install, took <5 minutes. Fuel mileage I don’t track terribly closely but I can tell there’s an improvement. Throttle response improved just a little bit too!

Always good , used them on all my cars for years

It does sound noticeably louder and responds slightly quicker, it’s not a dramatic change but definitely good for the money and is a good place to start.

I have a 2008 VW R32 and literally took 5 minutes to install this filter. It fit perfectly. It has been 1 month and I can definitely notice the difference, gas mileage and performance wise. I recommend it as an after market simple performance upgrade.
Thomas W. Ames –
Fit perfectly in the air filter housing. I’ve had no issues with a couple thousand miles driven on the filter since installation. Seems to be money well-spent.
Shuta Kobayashi –
I was able to purchase it for less than the selling price in Japan.
With regular maintenance, it can be used forever.
