I’ve got the 2002 995 Carrera 4 and this was a perfect drop in fit. I was due to replace my air filter anyway so why not give it an upgrade. I’ve used the K&N filters in the past and they always work great.
Note that this is for just the filter only. The oil and cleaner are sold seperately. However, it does come pre-oiled and ready to drop in your vehicle as is.

Is working fantastically well in my 99 Carrera C2 996 3.4. I am actually replacing a BMC air filter whose mold was slightly too short for the factory air box (length-wise). The BMC gasket actually began to rip and permitted unfiltered air into the engine. Unacceptable. This filter fits identically to the Mahle paper air filter that is OEM equivalent. Very pleased.
More aggressive sound, better throttle response (especially part throttle at lower revs). I have paired this with the fabspeed-style silicone intake hose and resonator delete. These, together, do increase top-end power and sound (a sore point for 994 owners). That was my only issue witht he M96 water cooled motor in my 996…I could barely hear it even when beating on it. With this filter/mod coupled with my Fister muffler mods, I’ve had multiple 993 and 964 owners comment on how “good” and “true” it sounds. It has much more of a growl at low RPMs and more of a wail at high RPMs.
No MAF issues either with this or the BMC. I do use CRC MAF cleaner every 5K (cheap insurance) on the sensor. I use K&N filters in all my cars (8 so far over the years) and not a single one has had a single issue with the MAF sensor. However, I used CRC MAF sensor cleaner on all of them at about 30K intervals.

I bought this for my 10 year old Porsche 911. I can’t believe I did not change earlier. After seeing the filter, I replaced on all my other cars 5 years or older. Was a perfect fit and I notice the difference in sound probably because I have more intake now. Very pleased and a definite upgrade from the OEM part.
