For: 2005 Hyundai XG350L
Issue: Trouble Code for Input Shaft Speed Sensor
Symptom: The car would not shift beyond 2nd gear. When forcing the car to go 40mph, tachometer showed engine reving above 4500rpm
Result: I researched some youtube videos on how to access this item, which is under the engine air cleaner/filter housing and a small bracket below that. Once I pulled the old sensor out and replaced it with this one, and erased the trouble code with a friends OBDII reader, the car was fixed. The transmission started shifting like new again.
Helpful Hint: I have an OBDII ECU memory saver, that I wish I had at the time I performed this replacement. In order to replace this part, I disconnected the battery. This in effect wiped all saved memory regarding air fuel mixture, idle state, driving habits, radio stations, etc. After the new part went in, the car started just fine but did not stay on. I had to give it some gas to keep the engine from stalling out or turning off for about 3 minutes. In effect, the computer had to re-learn and re-save critical information that works to keep the engine idling correctly. That info was zapped when I disconnected the battery. I was told this happens when you disconnect the battery from modern day combustion cars that rely heavily on ECU’s.

Sensor still works. The transmission is still shifting like its a new car.

’08 Tucson. Speedometer stopped working. No engine light/code, the speedometer was just sitting at 0. Only wiring issue I found was a ground near the fuse box had been chewed by rodents. Don’t know if that was related or maybe eventually caused one of the sensors to go out, but after replacing the input and output sensor and stripping/reconnecting the wire with a wire nut I have a working speedometer again for ~$60 with original exact match Hyundai/Kia parts.
As a side note, not gonna complain. These model year Tucsons are solid vehicles. First real issue I’ve had other than regular maintenance and it was probably due to wildlife nesting in my engine/air filter box!

Bought after market parts. They didn’t last. The genuine parts are great and the price was right.

One dark and rainy Friday night, my Elantra decided to throw its check engine light and keep the transmission locked in third gear. I quickly pulled over to the side of the road, attached my scanner, and saw that the code pointed to the transmission input sensor. I cleared the code and the transmission reset, allowing me to drive for another five minutes before it threw the code again. I pulled over, cleared it, and was on my way– only to have the check engine light pop up once more.
Needless to say, I was worried about getting home. Luckily, I made it home and ordered the sensor that very same night. When the sensor arrived two days later, the sensor box was the size of a playing card, but came in a huge box that wouldn’t fit in my mailbox–forcing me to make a trip to the post office.
I was on the fence about buying an aftermarket sensor from one of my local parts stores or buying an OEM Hyundai part. The indecision was based on shipping. Did I want to wait for it to arrive or just buy it now? Since the auto parts store wanted almost four times as much for the aftermarket sensor, I decided to stick with OEM. A half hour later and my car was back on the road. My transmission even shifts so much smoother than it ever did before.

This is the second review you’ve asked for. Used it to repair a transmission problem! And of all things , it worked for what it was suppose to.
