The old destructor had a plastic base and it broke. The new one has a metal base and fit perfectly.

Edit: 5 days after installing and writing a great review below this thing left me stranded on the highway. Had to get towed to my mechanic. Put the old distributor back in and truck worked fine. Since then replaced the old one with another distributor and everything is working great. So basically it is hit or miss
Seems like good quality. Only 2nd day of driving after install. More power and more pickup. It’s not the new truck response I was hoping for but I got 380K miles on my ’97 S10. Not sure if it would ever feel new! It certainly made a very noticeable difference. I probably hadn’t changed the last cap/rotor, only, for 100K miles and the cap terminals had a lot of white “corrosion” looked like many hours of spark wear. I definitely recommend this. It did take me much longer than other reviews, 2 hours to do the whole job. Set to Top Dead Center, marked my spark plug wires, removed original cap to mark where the rotor moved to when I pulled it out upon removal. When I went to put the new one it would not drop right in, hit oil pump fitting. I think it rotated when I was removing the original. Then got my “long” screwdriver stuck in the hole and had to use needle nose to remove but I was able to feel the oil pump fitting and rotated it to line up. After that it dropped right in. Fired right up.

Seems like a quality piece. Arrived in a timely manner and was packaged well. Made a few boo boos on install, but were mostly on me. Fixed what started as misses and then became a crank, no start due to the cap and rotor. After lining it up, dropping it in and searching for a replacement for the screw I lost, she fired right up and runs the best it has in a while. If you are due for a tune-up, shell out a few extra bucks and replace the stock junk distributor. It’s really pretty too lol
