There isn’t much to say that hasn’t already been said abot these non-OEM but entirely respectable filters (and bonus tools).
What you see is what you get: a two-sided, directional filter that supposedly has activated carbon on the output..
I’ve been using this general type of filter for the past 7 years and again, they have reached a level of perfection as far as that can be judged.
All of this said, if you detect the musty (and I say that in the best sense) odor, then it’s likely that your HVAC evaporator needs a cleaning. That’s directly aft of the lower filter, and the best way to clean it is with an AC cleaner aerosol, but fashion your own device to direct it straight at the evaporator–namely, a plastic “grape tray” or other similar thing the same size as the lower filter. Bolt a stick or other kid of flexible handle to it, and finally connect the extension hose from the aerosol so that ALL of the foam heads straight back (namely, toward the rear of the car) once this is in the lower filter position. BOOM, dispense the foam, install these new filters, and you will thank me a year or more later!

My daughter’s Tesla Model 3 was overdue for a filter replacement. According to the maintenance checklist, it needed to be replaced last August (every 2 years).
These filters fit well, although the foam edge around the filter made it a very snug fit going in. It’s a fairly simple and easy installation to do after watching it on YT. The orange pry tool that’s included has a forked opening on one side, that makes it easy to remove the clips holding the cover under the glove box.
It took me about 10 minutes to remove the old ones and replace the filters. There are no markings on the filter itself to indicate which side faces forward, but the tab for removing the filter has to be at the top, so it’s simple to determine which way it goes in.
The difference in the cabin air smell was immediate and very noticeable. The charcoal pellets in the new filter definitely work to reduce unwanted odors. They are well made and should work well until the next replacement.

Installing this filter was super simple. You just take off two panels and remove a couple of screws or pins, and you’re all set. The filter fits perfectly and sits snug in the slot with no issues. I really like that it has activated carbon since that helps with getting rid of smells and filtering out dust and other stuff in the air. It makes a noticeable difference, especially if you’re sensitive to air quality.
I recommend changing the filter at least twice a year, once before summer and again after winter. That way you avoid any musty smells or mold building up from using the AC or heater a lot. Also, make sure the little pull tab is facing out so it’s easy to grab next time you need to replace it. Overall, it’s a nice upgrade and does the job well.

I bought I few of these filters from different sellers and they all look like a copy of each other. Maybe they are even from the same manufacturer. I believe they get the job done, but I am not convicted that the activated carbon makes any difference. My car had a bad smell coming from the AC and it this doesn’t seem to make any difference in removing the bad smell. Also, keep in mind that the black border around these filters reduce the effective area when compared to the original Tesla filters. I’ve seen a youtube video where someone compares the air flow using these types of filters and the original tesla ones and there is a small difference. It can make the fan run a little faster to achieve the same air flow.

The filter fits just fine and is comparable to the OEM. Compared to the OEM though, this has thinner gills due to the activated charcoal layer. Not sure if this will compromise the filtering abilities. Time will tell. As for installation, this was a pain for a first timer at this and not a fault of the filter. I couldn’t get one of the electric connectors to separate. Also, the panel is a little different from the install video but I was able to figure it out. I included pictures of the panel that enclosed the filters. The plastic pins were also a pain to reinstall. You have to separate the pins into its 2 parts and insert the base first and then the pin afterwards By the way, I’ve got a ’23 model Y.

Super easy and inexpensive maintenance item for your car. I had no idea mine needed to be changed until a recent update alerted me to it. This kit is great, includes everything you need, all for under $20. A YouTube video I found showed me what I needed to do and 20 minutes later, it was done. Can’t beat that.

Perfect replacement easy to install

Fits perfectly in my Model 3—no weird gaps or trimming needed. Install was super easy, maybe 10 minutes total, and they even include a little tool to help. Quality feels solid, and I like the added blue pre-filter layer. Most importantly, I noticed an immediate difference in air quality—less dust, less weird outside smells. Feels cleaner inside, like my car can finally breathe.
