Compact, and small, this is OK for most uses, of course it makes it more difficult to access the fuses. It should of came with a little pair of “tweezers” – like some cars do. Being small, it is probably necessary to use long needle nose pliers to put the lugs on the terminals. And, be sure to use quality made lugs, and a ratchet crimper, for a tight connection. You don’t want to go back searching for a intermittent connection. As always great Hella quality.

I got this a couple days after ordering was surprised. It looks great but underneath is the metal for the connection and water or other stuff could get in there. You would think it be sealed underneath. Great deal though:) always adding things needing fuses so this helps and is neat and tidy

Well this unit seems to be pretty well made. Does what it should and seems to be rust resistant coated in nickel or something close to it. The cover has a gasket on it and closes well and would seem to serve well as to keeping water out. Except! the whole bottom is open and water can just go in that way rather easy. but really who is going to mount electrical stuff where it’s going to be hit by heavy water anyhow. The reason I gave it 4 stars was the simple fact the bare metal rails are exposed on the bottom would not take much to cause some serous problems if mounted poorly. I would recommend insulating the bottom before installing and you should be good go!

This is a very impressive little fuse box. There’s been some confusion about size. Here’s the measurements I see –
EIGHT POSITION STYLE –
Overall length, greatest dimension, including feet = 4.7 in
Overall width, greatest dimension, including terminals = 1.76 in
Overall height, greatest dimension, bottom of feet to top of clear plastic cover = 1.43 in
Plastic thickness = Just shy of .120 in. A little more than .118. Just about equivalent to 11 ga steel. About twice the thickness of typical “stereo oriented” fuse boxes which tend to be less than .054.
If you’re mounting this in some kind of weatherproof or other enclosure, it will need a bit more in width, of course, because the quick connect terminals will need some space on each side.
There is not a buss. It’s ONE terminal in and ONE terminal out PER FUSE position. That, to me, seems the most versatile. If it needs to be bussed, just crimp up a buss wire and connectors for as many positions as you might need.
The construction, fit and finish of this little box seems extremely good, particularly when compared to the China boxes typically marketed toward stereo guys. In particular, the clear plastic cap has VERY positive latches that seem like they would withstand a lot of vibration and jarring around, typical in a vehicle setting, and particularly in an off road setting.
The box is NOT WATERPROOF. There is a very good O-ring seal on the clear plastic cap. But the underside of the bottom, as well as the male terminal openings, are open to ingress of water. I really wouldn’t think that simply gooping it up with RTV would be a good solution for weatherproof. Much better would be to simply mount the thing in a watertight box along with your relays, buss bars and whatever else you design into your project. If you’re not going to mount it in a box, and it is exposed to weather/car washes etc, I’d suggesting mounting it bottom DOWN, fuse labels facing UP. That way any moisture that finds it’s way into there can drain out the bottom. If you mount it clear side down, and moisture gets in, it will probably stay in the O-ring sealed plastic cap.
I bought just one of these boxes to evaluate. I’m sold. I’ll buy several more for my project(s). They aren’t any more expensive than the lower quality boxes and they’re just plain built a whole lot better.
N.E.S. –
A short in the old fuse panel caused it to melt, so I was looking for something cheap that I could wire up both “always on” and “run only” circuits and this fit the bill nicely.
I didn’t run 8 individual wires from the power source, I simply used the wiring that was there and had already powered those circuits. I used the same gauge wire as the power wire to jump from lug to lug. If you need to power 8 things from a single power wire then this isn’t the box you want to use.
Seemed like it was made of decent materials. The water resistant cover is kind of laughable since all the lugs are exposed, and thus the backside can easily seep water right into the inside, but I suppose its nothing an entire tube of silicon can’t fix.

As stated by other people the waterproofing of the fuse side is good but there is a fault with the sealing as there is no protection from the underside and allows water intrusion from bellow into the upper compartment as well as the lower contacts.
As for the issue of Hella authenticity and the images posted in the reviews. Checking on the Hella Site’s Catalog the image there is identical to one posted by Brent and bears no Hella Logos or markings. Which leaves me to believe Hella outsources the production of some items and buys from the general market place.

Cumple las expectativas, super buen producto para lo que se utiliza. Fácil de contactar, aunque tiene tapa, por debajo se puede filtrar el agua, solo aislar bien la parte inferior.

I couldn’t be happier with this product. Good quality. Well worth the money. I ran audio wire into a fuse holder for a power wire then twisted a bunch of ends togeather and ran each one to a different terminal of this fuse holder. This eliminated 5 different leads coming off of my battery terminal and now I know exactly where my fuses are instead of hunting them down. Now when installing something new I don’t even need to disconnect the battery. I just leave the fuse out til I am done.
