They give the wrong tool for the install. You need a long skinny torx screwdriver to get the tachometer off to install the bracket. Most households have Philips screwdrivers. Include the Torx tool for the install, or at least include it in the description!

This thing is awesome I use it to mount my ultra gauge and is worked great The construction is very nice and I’ve had it for a couple months no issues If buying this for a phone make sure it’s not like an s23 ultra cuz mine doesn’t fit.

So it’s a flat piece, the back of the tach is curved, you can get the bottom two screws in but not the top one. I wanted it on the right, it hits the air vent and you can’t fit the phone holder part on, I took it off and reshaped it in a vice to make it fit, I mean it works now but half of the phone is obscured by the steering wheel, it’s a cool idea but needs a lot of work, I wouldn’t bother with it, also had to take off the tach to fit it and that needs a torx 30, they give you a cheap ass 90 degree Philips…. It is what it is for the price, but if you can’t or don’t want to do the work I did then don’t bother

Fits right! Finally, my hard researched paid off! Every sweat 😓 when installing this was worth it! I could only screwed in two slots due to my far sightedness 😵💫and my husband wasn’t available at that time. I’m so proud to have been able to work on this – meaning, I still got my powers!! Stability is the key that can make it work well. Phone holder doesn’t block the flow of the air vent which is a plus! Value for the money is worth it! I strongly recommend.

Mounting instructions below. So far this has worked well. It puts the phone in a good location that is easy to see and doesn’t block the windshield. I clip it in a the bottom of the phone to fully see the screen behind the steering wheel. My iPhone 16 fits in the bracket. I do mount it right where the camera button is which often triggers the camera to turn on when I mount it. The phone stays where I put it but is still moveable if I need to adjust it.
There are no mounting instructions included. Mine did include the correct angled screwdriver. However, If you can get all three screws out and back in while the tach is mounted, you have an incredible amount of patience and dexterity. I initially attempted to remove the screws while the tach was mounted. I removed two of the three screws and gave up to check the reviews for tips. My recommendation is to remove the two screws that connect the tach to the steering column. You will need a long T30 screwdriver to remove these screws. I found a cheap multi-bit kit at HF with a long enough handle and T30 bit for 10 bucks. If you detach the tach, you can easily remove the three screws on the back and mount the bracket with the provided screws.
Prior to figuring out that I could remove the tach, I was able to get the top and left screw out with the provided driver. The right screw is nearly impossible to remove if mounted. I was able to install the provided screw in the top hole. However, the screw ended up stripping out the white plastic it screws into when I attempted to screw in the second screw. Be careful not to over-tighten the screw to prevent this.

Direct fit for my 2012 Countryman—much more wallet friendly than other alternatives and can be easily modified to take a MagSafe mount as well.

I’ve been looking for something that works in my mini for at least a year and this is pretty near perfect considering you can’t really use vent mounts, or suction mount stands on the uneven dash, and the window mount blocks half the tiny windshield. A little tedious to install, you want a L shaped phillips head driver. The one that comes with this stand has the head on the long side instead of the short side so it is less than useful. Like all things mini cooper, you’re working in a small and stupidly angled space to install. The screws are also a tiny bit short, if you’re in it for the long haul might be worth putting some double stick gum tape behind the bracket or dropping some glue into the screw holes. I did neither and only managed to get 2 screws in before I rage quit. (I did not buy the right screwdriver) It does rattle itself loose after alot of driving, just rescrewed it back every few months. The back knob that holds the clamp at the angle on the arm also sometimes needs tightening or will jerk askew when you hit a pothole, which is hopefully not often RIP tire bars and alignment. Also very quick to readjust. All in all it’s the best thing out there for a mini, holds a phone in the right place, easy to see and reach for navigation and doesn’t block any of the screens or RPMs. All the issues can be fixed with some glue, TLC, and a very nifty offset screw driver you can get at your local ace hardware. Seriously buy the right screwdriver. Do not be me.
