As some others have mentioned the collar that threads into the main plate unscrews itself and then it’s gone along with the push button . You’re left with a hole in the starter end cover. The reason it unscrews, no matter how much loctite you apply is because it’s only screwed into place with what appears to be about two threads. So basically just throwing your money away. I only bought this one because it was black instead of chrome. Waste of money.

Button did not hold up, fell out on 3rd day of use.

The first one I bought was going to take about 6-8 weeks, so I find another supplier, under Amazon, that would have it here in three days. On a 08 Softail Classic, it’s tight, but doable. Use a little grease to hold the “Bolts” in the socket, it’s hell, if you drop them. So after installing it, I noticed, that the plunger, was working it’s way out, so I pulled on it, and the plunger pulled all the way out, it was assembled wrong from the vendor, so I had to remove, the plate again, hoping, I wouldn’t drop any hardware. I did not use the new fasteners supplied with the cover on the re- installation of the cover. The metal is soft and will strip out the heads. So everything good, it works, so let’s ride, well upon installation a week later, but only was out 2 days, just for a couple of hours, when I noticed to whole front plunger assembly was gone, just an open hole to the back of the solenoid. I’m like, what the heck happened, well, I guess due to vibration, it walked the assembly back off on the threads and fell down into the transmission casting, however, with little room, I was able to push the plunger assembly even further, toward the drive sprocket and out of sight, great job, you knucklehead, so then I decided after about an hour, trying to fish it out, by feel, to let it lay, until tomorrow or this bike will be in the street, my dogs will be kicked and I’ll probably burn the house down, because at this point, I’m looking at removing the oil tank, plus whatever needs to be remove so I can see to extract. No that’s not going to happen, let’s wait and get your self time to cool off, I know, why am I getting pissed, this part has just cause me major issues, when, if I just used the OEM cover, I wouldn’t be in this predicament. The next morning, I spent 10 minutes and fished it out. Now, it’s a little difficult to screw this assembly, back on the plate cover, when it’s installed, but can be done. The next day, the other part came early, so, since the first one went through multiple stages of mutilation, I going to install the newer one. Now from the suppliers
1. Assembly the product correctly at site.
2. Use higher quality fasteners for the replacements.
3. Simple exploded view and instructions.
4. Use Red, High temp Loctite on the threads for the plunger housing.
5. Ensure the flange end is installed on the inside of the cover, check to ensure O-ring is present and apply a small amount of oil, to loosen the plunger up, or it just might engage, when hooking up the battery, trust me on this. Was it worth it, now that I look at what it did to me, NO, unless the supplies improve their processes or just re-engineers the complete assembly for each specific model and type, no this does not fit all. You will need, squat by the right side of your bike, reach behind the oil tank and push your hand as far as it can go, so you can at least touch the head of the plunger, on my 08 Heritage Softail Classic.

Worked like a charm 🛵💨

The media could not be loaded.
It came put together backwards. So to the guy that said the button part fell off. That could be why. Simple, works, cheap. I thought my starter went bad and got this before buying a new one. So saved me money finding out it’s a wiring issue. This will stay on the bike.

This solenoid cover fits snugly against the case, using the original gasket. I did add a layer of waterproof silicone grease around the oring to help keep moisture out. It works as expected.
