My 2007 Silverado Classic (GMT800) Extended Cab with a 5.3L flex fuel engine began throwing P0455 error codes (check engine light illuminated). A P0455 code translates to “EVAP System Large Leak Detected” or something similar if you have a code reader. In other words, the on board computer detects the fuel system will not hold a vacuum (the “leak” meaning air will enter the system and the reverse, fuel vapors will escape). This trouble code is almost always caused by a malfunctioning/missing/loose/incorrect gas cap. As the truck is 17 years old and still sporting the factory original part, thought it was worth a try replacing it before undertaking more serious investigation and diagnosis efforts.
This Hsbhlsnx brand (i.e. generic) cap is an exact replacement for the factory part. It is equivalent to GM part number 20915990 and AC Delco GT295. The gasket that seals to the filler neck appears to be made of quality silicone rubber (at least it felt like it) and was firm but not hard. The cap screwed into the filler neck easily but not loosely. Clicked into place firmly with a sound and feel just like the OEM part it replaced.
After removing the old cap and installing this replacement part, I cleared the stored error codes which extinguished the check engine light. Been on the truck for about ten days now and so far, so good. No error codes have reappeared. Can’t say it will last 17 years like the original OEM part but at less than ¼ of the price of the GM replacement part and ½ the price of the AC Delco equivalent (neither of which are guaranteed to last another 17 years either) it is a good value and a budget friendly fix for an older vehicle. If it dies an early death or otherwise does not last a reasonable amount of time I will return and update this review.
I would recommend inspecting your fuel filler neck where the cap gasket seats to make sure there are no kicks or dings from refueling nozzles that will keep the cap from sealing properly. Also, take a ScotchBrite pad or something similar and clean it up to improve the sealing surface which will give the cap the best chance of functioning properly (and solving your error code problem).
I am not one to typically just throw parts at a problem as it will quickly eat up any savings from doing the repairs yourself. However, given the age of the original part in question and likelihood it was the culprit, and considering the modest cost of this part if it turned out to be something more serious, it was worth a try and saved a bunch of time and effort – at least in this case.
As the fit and function appear to be indistinguishable from the OEM equivalent, and at a much better price point, I rate this product a full five stars.

Direct replacement fits perfectly and has a high quality o-ring, seals tight. All materials used are as good or better than the worn out OEM cap I replaced. 2010 Chevy Suburban LTZ 4wd. Highly recommend this part if you’re experiencing EVAP trouble codes or ‘tighten gas cap’ messages while driving.
