Ok so I haven’t been able to wash my car for almost a year because of the drought and I’m the person that only wants me to wash my car, so I don’t do car washes. The brake dust was so baked onto my wheels that I literally said “maybe I should have bought the super strong one instead” this wheel cleaner amazed me it got about 98% of the baked brake dust off. Sure it’s not 100% but hey it’s been on my wheels for almost a year so I’ll cut the product some slack. I mean just look at the pictures

Great product, but I wish more of it would stick to the tire while it sits before brushing and rinsing. Tires looked like new after.

It does a pretty good job. I needed something safe to use on several types of rims without having to worry about adverse chemical reactions and it works well in that area. Noticed it was slightly better than just soap and water but no where near some of the much harsher chemicals I’ve used in the past. But, like stated above, it is safe on all the rims I’ve used it on and is my quick go-to

This stuff works great! Griot’s garage is one good brand compared to all the other fske competition. Griot’s just keeps it simple and strong. No need to have 8 different types of tire shine or wheel cleaner. At most 2 wheel cleaners, one heavy duty and one basic which is this one and is already potent! Highly recommend!

I have been using many of the Griot’s products for a couple years now, including this wheel cleaner. Once by accident I bought the Griot’s Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner which was way over-kill for my needs, probably for truck/off-road needs. This regular cleaner works fine on alloy wheels, particularly those painted and clear coated. I have used Griot’s on my wife’s car wheels for about 6-years with no discoloration or flaking of the clear coat, and on my car for about 2-year with good results. I DO NOT use this on the aluminum rims on my RV, opting instead for a cleaner specificly formulated (the manufacturer says) for uncoated polished aluminum. Like every other wheel cleaner I have ever tried, the claim “spray it on cool wheels, let sit a couple minutes and rinse with a strong stream of water” is overly optimistic. I spray on cool wheels, let sit a couple minutes, then use a soft, wet, natural bristle brush to work up suds and remove the brake dust, then rinse. I have never found a wheel cleaner that works without agitation to get brake dust off. So other than being more expensive, I see little advantage of Griot’s over any other quality wheel cleaner.

I can never find a wheel cleaner I like without braking the bank. What I mean is this product can be used sparingly and still work.

I was expecting a lot more performance. I still needed to use a brush to get the brake dust and grime off. I bought just about every brake dust product out there for my front rims on my Mercedes Sprinter and all of them came in just average. The best was probably the bleche wite by westley black magic, but even that was not 5 stars. I finally cleaned my rims with a hot soapy water and a rim brush and used a leaf blower to get all the water gone then I waxed the rims using car wax and now the dust just hoses off without any chemical. This may be 5 stars with less brake dust, but on the Sprinter rims it was just average, no batt or worse than other stuff.

Some reviews do note that this does not remove all of the brake dust and other grime by just spraying the cleaner on the wheels. For me, I don’t want an overly harsh cleaner that may harm the wheel finish or at the least, remove the wax that I’ve applied to the wheels. This wheel cleaner is perfect if you don’t mind applying a little elbow grease to get rid of stubborn grime. I’ve used this product in the past and will continue to use it.
