I cannot express enough displeasure with GPI nozzles. They are too dependent on having maximum flow. If the temperature gets below 20f the nozzle won’t open and allow you to pump, and if you are transferring fuel from a transfer tank into a vehicle and the transfer tank starts to get empty and sputter this nozzle WILL NOT SHUT OFF if the vehicle tank subsequently get full, leaving the vehicle overflowing with foamy fuel until the transfer tank gets completely empty or until you see it and shut it off manually. I fill my farm equipment every morning and often the capacity of the transfer tank in my pickup is matched in capacity to what the equipment can use in a day, so this scenario happens frequently. Often the pickup truck with the tank isn’t perfectly level so the pump sputters more as it loses and regains prime as it gets close to empty. It has gotten to the point that if the transfer pump has a GPI nozzle on it I cannot grease and service the equipment while I fill it with fuel out of fear of overflowing the tank, so I have to stand there and monitor it defeating the purpose of the automatic nozzle. I purchased a new fuel nurse trailer and saw that it came in with a GPI nozzle. I asked the company to put a different nozzle on it but GPI was their only supplier so I suppose I will have to go online and try and find a Fill Rite or some other brand.
