Size was right, but it’s too long and wouldn’t go into the pan all the way.

Bought a pair of these for our BMW motorcycles, my 2012 R1200GS (Triple Black), and wife’s 2013 R1200R (90 Jahr Anniversary). Haven’t installed yet.
Likes: Strong magnet, good machining, flat at the seating/sealing face, chamfer at the thread engagement (for easy thread starting).
Dislikes: Magnet diameter isn’t as large as pictured (measures 6mm, 0.25″), doesn’t share OEM metric Allen key tooling, head is unnecessarily large (requires 1″ hex wrench our socket), crush washer is also unnecessarily large (OEM uses typical 16mm).

Pull-tested the magnet with a Chatillon IN-15 MRP pull-tester (not calibrated 1 – 15 lb range). Magnet released at 3.5 lb., so this is likely a rare-earth magnet. Plenty strong to collect ferrous debris from oil.

Fit perfectly on my 2015 MINI Cooper S Countryman All4. The factory one that is an allen head bolt sucks.

Superior quality transaxile pan magnetic drain plug. This drain plug attached to a Pontiac,Grand Am,1995,4T60E transaxile after market pan.It hold its magnetism with high temerature and age better than the ceramic type.Precision manufactured.Highly recommended for machine longevity.

Works great. Installed easily. I do question the HUGE hex size, rather than using something smaller, say 17mm, which anybody has a socket for. The 26mm isn’t a problem for me personally, but I’ve got more tools than most.

I put it into my 2011 Mini, using the copper crush ring that comes with the oil filter, and proceeded to run a difficult 100miles. 20 miles sitting in traffic, followed by 80 miles of twisty mountain roads. Everything worked out, no leaks. I am happy

Works for my 15 Forester. The head size is much larger than stock. My Forester has 100,000 miles on it and I use synthetic oil which has meant I get virtually no metal on the magnet. A good investment in engine longevity.

  7. MW

Fit perfectly as a replacement in my 2016 Subaru Forester. OEM plug head had become slightly sheared over time. I am interested to monitor the magnet to see if it accumulates any filings from engine wear.
