I paired this with an ACDelco D1493F Ignition lock and cylinder replacement. I hope to get rid of my Pontiac Grand AM security light problem with this! This part looks and feels solid. When the lock, cylinder and this assembly are full assembled (in my hands and not yet in the vehicle) it feels solid and sounds like all the electrical switching is performing well. Looks and feels like a quality built part. This ACDelco D1432D is a GM#22670487 (per the label on the ACDelco box) Warning – There are no instructions in the box so thus know what you are doing or look elsewhere for instructions.

Looking to likely fix the dreaded PassLock problem. Every once in a while my 2002 Olds Alero (w/ 97k miles) took several attempts to start as if the engine was not getting fuel. Then one day leaving Cosco the car just died en route. Although I’m a humble garage mechanic with experience rebulding vehicle and often tackle maintenance on my own vehicles I took this into my favorite local garage. They replaced the fuel pump claiming it had died, which is what I suspected and why I took it in for I didn’t want to have to drop the fuel tank full of gas to replace the pump. However, gradually, and with more frequency since the pump repair the car had trouble starting, just turning over and nothing, but always started after a while (sometimes up to a hour of trying.) As you read this you too have likely read about the PassLock issue and suspect it’s a possible cause as did I. I’m here to tell you that after replacing the Ignition Switch it fixed the problem and the car even idles a bit better (likely cause of the new fuel pump.) Bottom line the switch, in my opinion, would be the best choice to fix first if you suspect the PassLock non-starting issue. For $100 bucks it’s the cheapest and simplest of the repairs. You can do it yourself but it will take time and is a bit of a pain. Search YouTube for a ignition switch repair video (for an Olds Alero) someone uploaded that outlines the repair step-by-step. Great authentic GM part. But always remember who’s part it was that went bad on them. I’ll also note that the first one they sent out was defective and I had to return it. The second one was charming.

Twofold for this review. First problem on a 2001 Chevy Malibu was anti-theft/security issue. That was passlock, and a new key insert body fixed that. No more waiting 10 minutes to restart the vehicle. After a couple years of the replacement, we began having random electrical problems.
Please read what issues others reported this item fixes as ours were identical. This ignition switch with lock solenoid fixed all of those problems to date. Will update if anything goes astray. I experienced what another reviewer noted, the two units fit solidly together and movement is fluid.

This is the best pricing available on an ignition switch for gm. This fixed my 2000 Pontiac grand am issue with intermittent gage sweeps and a/c and power windows deactivating. I never had the security light problem everyone else seemed to have, but almost always on startup the gauges would take a long time to start working. Great price. Great quality. Amazon exceeds expectations.
