The kit overall was good value for the price;
Although the belt appears to be excellent quality, the marks on the belt to not quite line up correctly. This helped create a few hours of extra work to arrive at that conclusion without risk to the engine. Also the kit does not come with the cooling inlet washer (a 50 cent to $1 part) which it should have, and other kits do. The local auto parts stores did not have them in stock so the old one had to be put back on with a prayer.

Great high quality product!!! i only buy gates and i recommend the same for you .. i love it… at first i didn’t even want to do the timing belt and water pump on my truck at all even though it was supposed to be done at 90k and i was at 130k .. but when my package arrived and i opened it and saw it i couldn’t wait to get these new awesome products on my truck so i could be rolling 😀

I was waiting to do this review till I see how it was. I’ve had it on for around 4 months now and havnt had the first problem yet. Truck runs perfect. I bought this 2000 Toyota Tundra 5 months ago and the guy had already paid 1500$ have all this replaced and some AC work done. After I bought the truck it started a small miss fire. No check engine light or anything. I bought plugs and wires and that didnt change it. Finally it got so bad that wouldn’t climb a hill. I took it to my dad’s garage and last pulled the cam pulley covers off and rolled engine over to put it in time. The left bank had jumped time by 4 teeth. I didnt know what possibly couldve caused it. I ordered this kit and disassembled it all found had antifreeze dripping on the belt. Thermostat housing was broke so got another for about 100$ then put it all back together and havnt had anymore problems. This is a good kit and do recommend

Well it’s hard to say how well this product will hold up since I’ve only gone about 2,000 miles on it. The product appears to be of quality. The tensioner that comes with the kit did seem a little cheap though good tension though serves its purpose the metal and plastic seems a bit inferior to oem. Pulleys are as good as factory, belt seems to be as good or close to factory. The water pump hard to say hasn’t leaked yet. I wouldn’t say the pumps quite as good as factory when you compare the two (plastic and metal seem a bit inferior to quality of factory one) it seems a bit less in quality but i do feel it will be fine and hold up. The water-pump gasket that came with the kit seems to be of quality no leaks just i would have liked it packaged (cardboard backing) instead of just thrown on top mine got a little squished and had to bend it a little bit. Overall i feel this product will hold up and for only 130 bucks can’t beat it, better than spending 2k for Toyota to do it. Make sure you do your research before doing this task many special tools and hrs required for this job.

This kit comes with ALL the parts to do the timing belt change right……assuming your cam seals and crank shaft seal are not leaking…..which is the case most of the time. You’ll still need to purchase some coolant and the seals as needed if needed. Those are usually a stocking item at local parts stores.

The thermostat outlet o-ring started leaking after a year and a half and the small o ring failed at 2 years. Around 30k miles. Spend the extra money and go with OEM Toyota for such an important component.
