Fits well with my 2013 Fit LX. The outer hinged door closes without issues. No warning lights on the dash when the cap is tightened. The design is quite ingenious. You turn the counter-clockwise , then back to the home position, then *remove* the key so that you can unscrew the cap without having your keys scratch your car. Even more ingenious is the fact that the cap locks automatically when tightened. No need to re-insert key. The only thing left so see is whether its cool mechanical design weathers Canadian winters.

I have a 2007 Toyota Tundra limited. I read a lot of reviews on locking gas caps and went with this one. Shipping was fast and the product was as advertised. Quality was there it didn’t feel any cheaper than my OEM cap. I installed the gas cap and it’s working. No check engine light. I would recommend lubing the key hole with a little WD40 if the key is difficult to get in and out. Mine is not. The locking mechanism requires you turn it clockwise and make sure it clicks at least 3-4 times to lock. If you don’t it will not reset into the locked position. The key does not have to be in it while removing the cap, once it’s unlocked you can take the key out and twist it off. Once your done simply twist it back into place and make it click a few times to lock. It should spin freely counter clock wise if locked. If it unscrews you haven’t clicked it enough to reset the locking mechanism. It’s not rocket science people it’s a gas cap.

My gas cap for my 2001 Toyota Tacoma was either stolen or the guy at the gas station forgot to put it back on. So I bought this one and it fits great and locks perfectly so no one will be able to steal it. I heard that if a gas cap dosen’t fit right you will not get good gas mileage and I’m sure this will help.No problems with check engine light coming on. Overall a very good product.

Gates brand is one i trust with belts, hoses, and many other auto parts. This locking fuel cap is top quality and locks like it should. The price is right as well.

This cap will not seal properly. I have greased the O ring and during a 200+ miles trip, I’ve fill up twice going and I still get the check engine light. I put my original non-locking gas cap during the return trip and the check engine light goes away.
Gates make good product, but one doesn’t pass.
I have yet to find a locking gas cap that will not allow the check engine light to come on and I’m 30 days past my return for Amazon.

I installed the Gates lockable gas cap on my 2014 Tacoma and have had no problems with the “Check Engine” light coming on. The cap fits perfect but you must read the directions on the cap for locking and tightening the cap. You must turn the cap clockwise until you here “3 clicks” when tightening as directed. Better yet, turn the cap until it clicks 7 or 8 times just to make sure the cap is tight.
I have noticed that many people complain that the “Check Engine” comes on after installing the Gates cap indicating that the cap is not sealing well. When I installed the Gates cap I noticed that the rubber seal (o-ring) on the stock Toyota gas cap is much thicker than the rubber seal that comes with the Gates cap. Maybe all that is needed to improve the seal on the Gates cap is remove the rubber seal from the Gates cap and replace it with rubber seal that is on the stock Toyota cap. The much thicker Toyota seal may improve the seal on the Gates cap and prevent the “Check Engine” light from coming on. If, for some reason, my “Check Engine” light on my truck does eventually come on, the first thing I am going to do is swap the rubber seals on the caps if possible. I do not know if trading cap seals will work to prevent the “Check Engine” light from coming on but it’s worth a try.

According to Amazon Fit-this should have fit 2001 Chevy Tahoe. The cap goes on, twist until clicks but lock does not engage. I can remove with out the key. I tried putting it on with key inserted & w/out key – the cap does not lock on my tank. This is second cap in a month with the same issue – both times I used Amazon Fit specific to my vehicle. Will be returning. What I received looks different than the picture on Amazon as well. See attached photo

So far had it for over 6 months and through winter now. Odd that it said it didn’t fit, but I read a few reviews and went with it. Locking and unlocking worked as described. Only thing I notice was the logo and label still said Stanton on it when received??? Maybe they are the same company, I never checked, but that was odd. Other than that, worked as described, no check engine light.

Had to cross check a few numbers in a few places but ordered it and it fits my Kioti diesel tractor.

I ordered this gas cap for my 2012 Toyota Tundra. The dealer did not even have the ability to order a locking gas cap at the time. Which is too bad because with the price of gas these days who wants to take a chance of someone stealing a few gallons from the tank. Or worse yet risking someone putting someting harmful in there as a prank. I was worried that the check engine light may come on because it is not an OEM item. However, I have not had a single problem and have been through several fill ups with the new cap.
