Weekend rider –
This is as close to an OEM part as you get. Oftentimes, these replacement gas caps don’t seal correctly and you get the EVAP system error. Not with this cap – it fits perfectly and seals just fine.

Seals the evacuation system so the dashboard warning lights stay off after resetting the system by disconnecting the battery. The retainer button is a little too small so it lets the cap fall off when it is unscrewed.

Lexus RX300 Gas Cap Replacement as VCS light always appeared to light up. Mechanic claimed it was due to the gas cap leaking a bit, and found this replacement and now it’s clear. Solid buy.

I found an exact match here to the previous gas cap I had on my Toyota Matrix for at least 8 years. I had bought a replacement cap at a local auto supply place,, but I needed a pair of pliers just to remove the cap with these older hands. This cap not only fits firmly, but it is easy to take off and put back on.

This gas cap is either not genuine or was manufactured with a defect. The rubber ring seal was visibly damaged and did not create a vacuum tight seal as evidenced by multiple check engine lights and a very strong odor of gasoline fumes. Additionally my fuel economy dropped 10-20%. Overall I would just order this from a reputable seller of Toyota parts to save yourself the headache. My replacement for this replacement arrived today and visually comparing the two it’s very clear the one obtained on Amazon is faulty. Check engine lights are now gone, no more fuel vapor smell, and all is well.

I went to have my 2003 Toyota Tacoma smogged today. The seal of the O ring was not proper and made the Toyota Tacoma send a code to the smog device as a leak. The inspection person at the smog station said it did not allow this replacement fuel cap impossible to use. So I purchased a new one from an auto parts store down the street. It worked properly. However, the codes that the vehicle kept sending because of the original issue of the O ring kept sending a bad code. In my case, I would not have known to look for a deficit

The only dislike is that although it fits and replaces my old gas cap, its not able to fit into the gas door to allow you to keep up with the cap and it hang from the door. I have to hold it in my hand when pumping gas and replace it that way.
