Been using for about 2 years. It’s still there.
But the string is made of plastic whereas the original was rubber. So it’s a bit more stiff.
Also, the fitment is poor. It doesn’t stay in place and easily disconnects from the body. Not much of a problem, but since the string is so stiff,
Moving the gas cap around is often enough for this to disengage.

Another Sprinter owner suggested this part as a replacement on my diesel van. The flat end connected well to the fuel cap after I cut off what remained of the factory tether. But the fuel door end of the cable isn’t a match, and the outer plastic disc is much bigger than the diameter of the hole it needs to feed through. The factory tether used softer rubber with a cone tip that could be pressed into the opening and released. I had to use a knife to trim down the end of this plastic replacement before it could be forced into the metal anchor point.

Seemed excessively expensive for such a small piece of plastic, but with few alternatives that are not wasteful and twice the price, I gave it a shot. Installed quickly/easily, though I needed pliers to remove the end of the original rubber tether from the gas cap. The stiffness of the plastic makes it slightly less easy to close the cover door (sometimes need to rotate the cap end of tether), but not a big deal. Way better solution than discarding a perfectly functional gas cap just to replace the tether. Hope it lasts as long as the original (13 years for mine)!

The part was a perfect replica in terms of shape and size but lost a star because the material seemed to not be of the same grade at the initial part. For a gas cap tether it shouldn’t make a big deal but it’s not a perfect replacement

This is a perfect fit for the early Z4’s. I can’t speak for other years, or other BMW models, but I suspect it will work for many of them as well. Easy no tool fix to that broken gas cap tether,

I own a 2004 BMW 330. The tether finally broke on the gas cap and I figure BMW would want at least $20 for this small part. I was thrilled when it came today and fit perfectly! It was easy to install as well!

It looks exactly like the one I took off my car. But the ends on this are too small to stay in the hole and this didn’t come with the o ring for the cap or any other way to attach it to the cap. After this purchase I am still without a feather for the gas cap.

Fits perfectly for my z4 bmw 2005. The original one seems to be made with rubber . This new appears to be flexible plastic . I have noticed after a few uses the part that attaches to the car has come off . I think I can fix it. It’s a bit pricey for what it is .
