As advertised, I purchased this gas cap for my 98 Explorer due to a Check Engine warning light on my dashboard issue. Although the cap seems to fit OK, I am very disappointed that this replacement gas cap absolutely will not “click” when tightened. It just gives a weak, indistinct thump that leaves you wondering… This is disappointing and suspicious because printed right on top, it instructs you to “TIGHTEN UNITIL CLICK -OR ENGINE LIGHT MAY COME ON. Well, I guess using this gas cap just may ASSURE that my Check Engine warning will light stays on!? I guess I will ask Amazon for a replacement or a refund, and buy a different one from a different source.

Other reviews said the cap didn’t click when closed like it says it should, but I took a chance and of course I get one that doesn’t click. Have to wait and see if it is working so check gas cap light will go off.

This was the exact same part as what was on there from factory. Works like a charm and rough idle and light are gone. If your diagnosis detects gas cap leakage, this is a simple fix

1 day past my return window and the gas cap light comes on. I would not buy this item. It will not click to let you know its tight. It is not air tight. Waste of money.
