Bought this for my 2005 Volvo S60. The last 3 arrived with damage to the filter. Most notably the core plastic inside the filter was broken and circling around. Ever since this was made in the US from Mexico the quality has gone down. I also suspect it is the reason my engine was having performance issues because of this core/center piece spinning around. Just bought the OEM MAHLE filter and the quality was noticeably different. I’m angry at FRAM, will not be buying this again.
Ship it –
I stopped using Mobil1 extended filters after several years, once they started making cheap junk. Dissapointed both Mobil1 and k&n downgrading quality SIGNIFICANTLY, so i tried these new Fram filters & very happy so far. These are quite expensive, but I can see the media is much thicker than anything else Ive seen & seems like a quality assembly process.

This filter is metal reinforced . I installed it on my 2005 2.5T S80 . The fit is spot on. The filter is rated at ~ 15k miles and with the addition of a high quality synthetic oil ( 15 – 20k miles), it will reduces my oil changes to 1 or 2 yearly.

Been buying these for the past few years for DIY oil changes for a 2003 Volvo S40. It’s a reasonable price and gets the job done. The packages has 2 pieces, the filter which you need to place inside the oil filter plastic housing/cup in the engine, and a rubber gasket for replacing the one on the oil filter cup. It’s also a good idea to replace the metal washer on the oil drain plug if you’re using an impact wrench or tightening the plug very hard as that gets warped and wears out.

Using reinforced woven and supported synthetic media is a superior design over the conventional cellulose media used by many competitors. Having decades of experience with hydraulic filtration, this design will potentially offer much better particulate removal and retention. Using premium synthetic motor oil & filtration will extend the life of any engine.
