This product is easy to use but it leaves sticky residue on your chair that goes away with rubbing alcohol but takes the paint away as well and you are back to where you started from. The tear is still there and patched a little bit but looks ugly. It only paints over the tear and does not repair it. After couple of times sitting on the couch, the tear came back worse than before. So, not very useful for patching even small tears.
I have to say that the company is very helpful but they need to improve this product if they want more people buying their product.

Very easy to use. Drys and cures fast and it looks great after it sets

With a torn corner on my car’s driver seat, this kit was used to fill the oversized hole that revealed internal stuffing material. It was easy to use and seems to be holding up just fine. My only disappointment is the shinier appearance it has to my leather seats. I did have some difficulty in obtaining a flat surface and perhaps that was because the area being repaired was on the curved corner. Perhaps with more finess, my results would have been more desireable but at least I no longer have exposed stuffing. Im going to try scuffing the area to dull it more and perhaps the repair will be less noticeable.

I which the adhesive was stronger. I had to add many applications to make the patch adhere. The leather dye is questionable. It took many applications and the patch did not stick well. Still, I thought of adding a different adhesive? I got a good deal on the used Highlander hybrid, So I figured I could make a patch work using what I found on Amazon. The star rating I have given this product is what I feel is fair considering the amount of time I spent to make a leather patch work.

I bought a kit of leather repair liquid in various colors once. I didn’t need all the colors, and the stuff dried to a hard plastic-y consistency, not at all what the surface of my faux leather chair had. I was disappointed and pretty much gave up on leather repair kits.
So we have a leather Vreta couch from Ikea. Say what you want about most Ikea furniture, this thing has been beautiful, comfortable, and super durable. So I was dreading the wear I noticed on the most used seat cushion after years of constant use in a family of 4 plus two cats. Eventually a small hole wore into the seat and I finally gave in and tried a leather repair kit (yes, this one). I admit that I didn’t have much in the way of expectations.
The bottle is not very big, but the goo applies thin and goes a long way. I treated it out on an ottoman with a small hole and lots of wear, and it dried sticky, but uniform and black and pretty much exactly what I wanted. So I tried it on the couch. Fresh black couldn’t possibly match years-old black with inevitable fading, so I coated the hole, the worn seat, and all the way to the edge of what’s visible. This makes it consistent across the workspace, albeit a bit sticky at first. I rubbed it a bit with a cloth and the sticky texture didn’t go away, so we’ve just used it as normal, sitting on it with clothing that makes a sound as it peels off. Only two days later, the stickiness seems to be wearing off and it’s not only pretty durable so far, it’s starting to feel more like the original leather finish. Maybe a little getting used to, time will tell, but much better than hard plastic. So I’m impressed.
I read the instructions several times to make sure I did what it advised. The instructions mention a brush for small areas and a paddle for larger areas, but my kit included a small plastic paddle. If you’re doing a large area you want to do it section by section to keep the product from drying in lumpy ridges. The goo is a thin liquid, so you push it around for a good while getting it to a smooth finish with that tiny plaatic stick. Not sure if that is the best applicator, but it works if you’re patient. I didn’t have a big enough hole to warrant backing, so can’t say how well that works, but it seems to hold a small tear together for the first few days at least. It’s really too soon to say this is a perfect solution, but compared to past experiences it’s exceeded my expectations.

Did not work as well as I thought it would but it did work. The leather was textured so it made application and blending a bit of a challenge for me. It did cover the blemishes but you can tell there is a difference between where I applied and where where it’s not. I did not use the rest as it did not look the way I wanted it to. If the leather was smooth, it might have worked out better.

My GL1800 Goldwing passenger backrest ripped along the seam. I considered inserting a black leather patch inside the rip, then covering it with the black leather and vinyl repair kit adhesive. But, I decided to go the easier route and only use the leather/vinyl adhesive without using the patch.
I cleaned the area around the rip with a cotton ball dipped in alcohol, then allowed it to dry. Then, I covered the rip with the adhesive and allowed it to dry. Once it dried, I put some clear Elmer’s washable glue over the adhesive. When the Elmer’s dried, I covered it with another coat of the adhesive. Finally, once the 2nd adhesive layer dried, I dipped a Q-tip in rubbing alcohol and rubbed it over the repaired area. (The adhesive did not come off). I let everything dry completely, and I’m happy to report that the repaired area is barely noticeable, and the adhesive seems to be strong enough to keep everything intact. I have heated seats, but so far the heat has not affected the repair.
Bottom Line: I’m happy that I tried this product instead of buying a new backrest. The procedure is easy, doesn’t take a lot of time, and the adhesive is really strong. So far, so good. It’s worth a try!
