I’ve had 2 of 4 window motors go out on my crown victoria. The wire that wraps around the spool gets dislodged and starts tearing up the plastic and eventually either snaps or comes out completely. It’s a terrible design, plastic shouldnt be used as a spindle for metal wire. Having a window wire just snap so you’re window is stuck open is not good and from experience these window regulators are purposefully designed to do that. The motors rarely go out. It’s always good to have a spare if you haven’t already replaced it.
