You’re supposed to use RTV to seal the valve cover. I’m not a fan of RTV so I tried this instead. It works perfectly!! No leaks and it was easy to install. You don’t need any RTV or adhesive to install it. It has several tabs that help it stick to the engine. First clean both surfaces by scrapping off any old gasket material and then use wire brush to get very clean. I used brake cleaner to make sure the surfaces were very clean. Simply lay it carefully around the cylinder head, replace the grommets on top, be sure to reuse the washers and torque down the two bolts evenly, tighten each side evenly to 7ft/lbs. This was the easiest gasket replacement I’ve ever done. Mostly due to the fact there’s only two bolts. 😬

Used this to replace my worn factory rtv gasket that started to leak. Pros are:
Nice thick and durable construction
Downward facing tabs give a visual indication that gasket is properly aligned
Rubber grommets are nicely made and included
I noted no cons with this item. During installation be sure to completely remove all of your old rtv from the valve cover and mating surface. I used a razor and brake cleaner to thoroughly clean the surfaces. I also lubed the gasket with a slight film of engine oil to help it seat properly. To hold the gasket in place when installing the valve cover I smeared a thin coat of rtv onto tugging valve cover, just enough to hold the gasket in place while upside down. I also used a razor to make alignment marks on the 2 valve cover bolts in order to not over tighten them..since I don’t have a torque wrench. Alternate while tightening them to get an even seal.
After install and driving the leak is fixed. Plus the next time there ain’t be any messy rtv to remove. I would recommend this product and buy it again. PS, check your pcv valve whole your at it.
