Fitted yesterday so will update in a few months. 6-point star bolt heads shallow compared to bolts on original Mahle item. This is compounded by tops being curved which further reduces contact area. 3 out of 26 bolt heads deformed, which is a pain as on an angle & some hidden/ difficult to access. Ended up banging on a standard socket to be able to do final torque ( which is only 10.5Nm). Item came with the two self tapping bolts for fitting seal over valvetronic motor. I bought new cover seals, valvetronic seal & the vacuum pipe from main dealer. I got the vacuum pipe off but the concertina section was very brittle & snapped (2010 BMW X5 E70 35i, Japanese import). Access is good on the X5 but I imagine this job is a real pain on smaller models.
Actual cover looks identical to removed, original Mahle item.
Hope this helps.

Valve cover fit as it should, old cover engine cover did not fit, I’m sure I could’ve taken out the grommets and relocated them on the valve cover but it wasn’t worth the hassle. I will say I used the original gasket, the aluminum cover is actually surprisingly high quality and all of the hardware I got worked perfectly, no leaks so far I’ve had it for about 2-3 weeks now, and the car has been running way better before. I do recommend getting a new crankcase vent hose, and some vacuum caps. Other than that it was a pretty easy job took me about 3 hours. Good value for the money if the OEM is going to be cracking and leaking every 6-12 months I’d rather spend $150 than $600+ for a OEM

This valve cover appeared just as tough and well cast as the original BMW part it replaced. The screws aligned perfectly with the holes on the engine. There is a minor difference between this part and the one I removed from my vehicle. The new part has 2 brass nuts cast into the plastic for machine screws whereas the one on my vehicle just had plastic holes and used the type of screws made for twisting into plastic. I don’t consider it a problem, actually an improvement, and I suspect it would be like this if I had bought OEM from a BMW dealer. Either way, I did need two machine screws. I’ve owned several beemers, so I had these two screws in my spare parts that worked perfectly. If you need to buy some, they are M6 X 1.0 pitch, 15 mm long. Strongly suggest you order the hose also, part 11127584128. I knew it would be brittle, but hoped to carefully remove it intact…as you can see, I wasn’t successful, and had to buy one anyway.

The quality of this valve cover is very close if not the same as the OEM one which is from Mahle; that cost around $600. I had to replace my valve cover because of my PCV valve failing which is integrated to the valve cover. It comes with gaskets pre-installed and I recommended this product 100%.

Poor quality. Valve cover cracked after less than a year from being installed. Purchase OEM not worth the time and money to redo after only one year.

Valve cover was great quality, gasket included even though most people prefer oe but I decided to test out what comes in the box. Hardware was missing so I had to cut out hardware from the original plastic valve cover to complete the install. Overall I give it 4 stars. Be prepared to buy hardware before you install and possibly a gasket at your discretion, note: valvetronic gasket sold separately

You definitely get what you pay for. Item looked good from start and fit good…but started to leak after only 1 week… they offered to replace with the same crappy one…just go with OEM save yourself the headache.

Purchased valve cover because my OEM gasket had slow leaks at 98k miles. Invested into entire valve cover since other parts of the OEM valve cover might fail with this many miles. Fitment was perfect. Feedback from others about gasket falling off probably dont have experience. Eventhough the gasket fits in tight, if you don’t take your time and bump the valve cover into things that are in the way, part of the gasket might fall out. This kit came with instructions on where to place gasket sealer if needed. I didn’t need any and was able to install without it falling out. Took me a couple tries. First time was because I was bumping into cables by the firewall. I moved them out of my way and it went in smooth the 2nd time. Valve and gasket material seemed identical to OEM with the exception of the 2 brass machine screw inserts for the electrical connector. The only downside was that this didn’t come with the M6, 1.0 16mm screws. I purchased some later from a local Autozone parts store with locking washers and the 16mm fit good. It’s been about 4 weeks driving daily with no leaks and no regrets getting this part compared to OEM. If it fails, I’ll follow up with another review.

I’ll keep this short and sweet
-oem like quality
-fits , period, no nonsense
-I did not buy extra hardware as the others did
-I used the included gasket, seems fine
-installed for 2 yrs / 40k (with 160k on the odo now), all is well
-mhd tuned, stg2+, e50 fuel map
why spend more? even if it’s from fcp euro , buying it twice is still expensive …. as oem will fail anyway . check 1st person reviews on fb n55 groups, everyone has positive things to say

some of the hardware did become a bit of a Pia to install. Take your time with your valve cover, you don’t want to force the bolts in. had to replace two of the new bolts with old bolts from the previous valve cover because the new ones were bent. gasket supplied seemed fine by I went with oem gaskets from bmw. Overall, good fit and would buy again!!
