These were super easy to install and really only took 5 to 10 minutes total.
You’ll need:
– Something to hold the hatch all the way open.
– A screwdriver
– Work gloves if you have them, a lot of have cleaner if you don’t.
Grab your parts, gloves, and screwdriver and get to work! Use something to hold the rear hatch open while you work. It has to be all the way open to make it easier to fit the length of the openers. Then, use a screwdriver to gently pry the metal clips that hold the ends of the tube and rod over the small ball ends connected to the car.
The ball ends we’re really dirty. I had a rag to wipe them off, and a little white grease to clean and lightly lubricate them.
Once you have removed the parts from one side of the hatch, gently pry loose (but not all the way off) the metal clip from the rod, slide the end over the ball attached to the side of the van, and press the clip down to lock it in place over the ball. Then do the same to the one on the hatch end. Be careful, as your support might come loose.
Repeat for the other side.
My hands were filthy after replacing the lifts, so wear some gloves if you can.
The temperature here drops below zero, and that’s when we started noticing the lifts not working well, and then they failed completely on a cold morning. I think I used one of my kiddos skis to hold the hatch open so we could get our gear in the back of the van.
This was easily the simplest repair I’ve had to do to my 10 year-old 2007 Toyota Sienna mini van. I installed these a few weeks ago. It’s -1°f out today, and these lifts are working fine.

I watched a YouTube video for instructions. This was easier than installing wiper blades with a partner to hold the tailgait. If only I’d realized how inexpensive,fast, and easy this could be my old supports wouldn’t have been left on until total failure. Pry out 2 clips with a flat head screwdriver, thump slightly the opposite direction at each attachment point,
tap on new one at the top & then the bottom. The bottom one may require the hatch door to be moved to align the connection. Repeat for side 2. We had ours installed within 5 min of the Amazon delivery truck dropping it off. 2008 Sienna

This product was fairly easy to install. It would be easier with two people, but I was able to complete this replacement on my own—it just took a little extra time and patience. I have been using the replacement parts for a few weeks, and they work very well. I am pleased with the quality of the product and the price point.

I ordered these for my parents 2006 Toyota Sienna because the old shocks need to be replaced. The door was snapping shut. I ordered these shocks and they arrived quickly. I looked up a Youtube video on how to install these. I found a video and the removal and installation took me like 10 minutes. Prop the door up with like a broom.To remove the old ones you need a flathead screw driver to pop the clips out.The new shocks pop right in. Very easy. The new shocks work really well the door glides down and shuts and the door opens with the arm strength of new shocks. These are the real deal. Thank you.

Lifts completely up again! Solid construction of lift components. End caps are okay, but not as sturdy as OEM. They unscrew, which was nice for installation. I was hopeful that I could swap the original end caps to the new lifts, but the threads/screw are a different size. Working much better, and we’ll see how long they’ll last. Also, be aware that if you are replacing lifts that have not yet completely failed, you may be surprised by how strong the new ones are – open faster and take more strength to close, much harder to do one-handed than the old ones.
