Since this part should last at least 100,000 miles, it is hardly possible to judge it’s quality by the look and feel when new – but the look and feel is good. It seems solid, seems equal to the OEM pulley I removed (though of course the one I removed was not as smooth, having seen 122,000 miles of service). Be aware that the actual bearing unit may be sourced from China, and stamped as such, even though the overall unit is assembled in Canada. This surprised me, as it has surprised others, but my subsequent research suggests that the Chinese are quite capable of making quality bearings, so hopefully Gates is keeping tabs on their suppliers and making certain they get the good ones.

Installed this pulley on a 2006 CRV made in the the UK. Perfect fit and hoping it will last a long time. Unfortunately, I paid a pro mechanic shop to replace the entire belt tensioner assemble last time and got only 30K out of the pulley. I don’t know the brand that was replaced earlier, but this Gates has the same manufactured name on the pulley.

The original pulley’s bearing had lateral run out which caused the belt to rub sideways as it traveled along the pulley.
I was able to replace the pulley without removing the tensioner on the 2005 CR-V. The only issue I ran into is that the tensioner pulley bolt is attached with a non-captive nut which will fall out once the pulley bolt is removed. I was able to reinstall the bolt (after unbolting the power steering pump and setting it aside). I used a small piece of duct tape to hold the nut in place while screwing in the pulley bolt.

Fits great. Just like the OEM. Easy to install. When you take out the bolt on the middle, watch out for the nut behind the tensioner. It may fall into the motor and will be very hard to find.

Need an offset wrench to loosen the bolt but otherwise don’t have to remove the steering pump, just the pump reservoir. Remember to have a prybar or something behind the tensioner as the bolt threads into a capture nut in the back of the tensioner. Without that, the nut will be pushed out and you’ll have to remove the tensioner to get it back in.

I replace both tension and accessory pulleys with these and did work fine. I did omit the original large washer on the tension pulley and used a smaller washer to fit. The two original pulleys are different from each other so it’s a little confusing to now the same pulley will work with both.

The media could not be loaded.
Now just around 2K and within several months, it starts squeaking since Thanks giving 2018 and now jann, 2019, worse, I had the brand Dayco belt when I replaced the Gate pulley, the belt is still like new and pulley gone bad.
Misalignment of the pulley, bad quality.
ordered the red color pulley shown on the website, got a black instead ,I also noted the surface is not really smooth , see photos and video. I asked the Amazon community for answer, and get some helpful feedback, I also ring the Gates tech support, and left a voice mail, but not answers.
Red or black color bushing is fine either way with me, but I’m still concerning about the bumpy surface of the pulley, because nobody mentioned that or illustrated that after I extensively search the internet. so I went ahead to chat with Amazon customer service, they give me a replacement ( promised a red color) solution.and arrived super fast, but it’s a black one again. By comparison, they are almost identical, but the latter appears in better condition, unlike the first, lot of chips and scratches, the latter has very minor chips in the rim. and most important of all, the bumpy surface is lesser to my eyes ( if I’m not psychologically biased). I can’t wait for another solution, so I go ahead put it on, and now it fit well and my car runs without noise any more. I will do longer trip test to see the final result.
