I have a 2003 Buick Century. An intermittent ABS failure on it had been frustrating me for a couple of years, but when the problem would not clear by my previous method of cleaning the harness connections, I decided to take the car to to a repair facility. This repair shop troubleshot the problem to a bad wire in the left harness, but I had always been able to fix the failure by cleaning the contacts on the right side connections at the wheel. This shop said they didn’t feel comfortable trying to repair the problem. I took the car to a second shop that kept the car almost a month and said they couldn’t find anything wrong except for a possible broken wire on the left side. They too were reluctant to attempt a repair. Neither shop charged me for the troubleshooting–I guess it’s because they didn’t want to attempt the repairs. I took matters into my own hands and opened the left harness. I found a broken wire about 6 inches from the hub and spliced it back together. The ABS fault was still there. So, I searched for help on the internet and ran across these replacement harnesses online. I ordered them because they were so inexpensive and it was worth a shot. I ordered 2 Dorman 970-040 harnesses–one for the left side and one for the right side. I had great success with installing a Dorman replacement window regulator in my Durango a few months ago, so I was confident I could replace these harnesses, too. I replaced the left harness first because I didn’t want that old wiring in there even though I had previously spliced the break that I found. The ABS fault was still there after I replaced the left harness. So, I replaced the right side harness and the fault disappeared. It took a total of about 40 minutes total to swap these harnesses in my driveway with the front end of the car on ramps and simple tools (wire pliers/crimper, small common screwdriver to open the plastic clamps, electrical tape and scissors). I am thankful to Dorman for recognizing the need for replacement harnesses and for making these available. It means a lot me to have my car working properly again. It was also extremely satisfying fixing my car myself when two other repair shops could not.

This fixed my problem of my ABS light on and the code being a sensor issue. Apparently it wasn’t the sensor but the corroded line to the sensor. Thanks for selling this product!

Perfect dimensions, perfect wire coloring! Worked like a charm on my 3800 V6! If you are doing the front left tire, use 970-040, if you are doing the front right tire, order 970-041! Dorman hit a homerun with this item. Drove around like crazy and couldn’t get my traction/ABS lights to trip! No more grinding/wheel vibrations for me!
For those about to replace! Remember that there is a lot less room on the front left tire (driver’s side). Be sure to check the wires leading to the plug from the hub too! The sheath over the two hub wires on my 01 Regal were damaged. Make sure the plug assembly fits back into the metal bracket snug! The plastic teeth on mine weren’t fully engaged. The plug on this Dorman unit goes in very firm. Getting the old harness’s out is a real pain too. They break very easily and the one’s dorman provided are a pain to push into the holes.
Changed one out in about 1 hr and 30 minutes. And I’m no professional, half of the time I wasted was figuring out a game plan and waiting for a friend to drive over wire strippers! Don’t be afraid to do it yourself!

I purchased this harness Along with the Dorman 970-041 to replace the ones on my 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. I was having issues with the ABS system going on and off and my Wheels vibrating. Both of these harnesses are essentially the same, but they color co-ordinate the wires so that you can match them on the ones from the car if you get one of each harness. I didn’t test to see which one needed to be replaced, I just replaced both of them. They were not the easiest to connect to the wires from the car using the clamps that are included, but I used some other clamps to connect the wires that made it much easier and the second harness took me about 25 minutes less (about 30 minutes for one and about 5 for the second). Once the harnesses were replaced I no longer had any of the issues with the lights coming on, my ABS system turning on and off, or my traction control turning on randomly. These were a really inexpensive fix, that probably would have cost just as much to diagnose the problem at a dealer. There are a few youtube videos that are helpful in showing how to solve this problem so look them up if you haven’t done this type of work before.

I have a 2009 Impala LT and these worked great. I took my car to the mechanics a few times, and they could never figure out why my ABS and Traction control lights were on. They wanted to replace my wheel bearings and hubs ($$$$$$$), but I decided to try this first. For $20, my car is fixed! it was pretty simple to do… hardest part was getting the plastic cowls off my car to gain access to the spot I wanted to splice this together.
I cut the old harness off, and spliced the new one on using waterproof butt connectors and covered each wire with heat shrink tubing, and then another heat shrink tube over the whole splice area. When I cut the wires, I left the wire loom long, so I could tuck the wires back into it. Then, I put electrical tape around the wire loom all the way to the sensor. Might be overkill… but, I haven’t had any issues since and I live in Michigan where it is wet and snowy right now.
